When i first started testing SSDs (Solid State Drives) roughly 5/6 years ago even the cheapest 60GB model cost more than a 2TB HDD and although SSDs had a very large and clear advantage in read/write/access speeds over regular HDDs it wasn't until a couple of years later that consumers actually got...

Crucial M500 SATA III Solid State Drive - 240GB
My HP Pavilion has had a new lease on life. Windows starts up in about 25 seconds! A massive improvement. All apps start more quickly in Windows 7. Quite simple to install too.

All in all I'm very pleased with this drive. The price was unbeatable for this capacity - under 50 cents per GB! Functionally, it may be somewhat slower in some types of writes and reads but you've be very hard to notice it in actual usage.
Pros:
- Great Value
- Huge capacity
- Reliable
- MLC NAND not TLC for longer life
- 7mm case fits everywhere
Cons:
- Very high density NAND is a little slower in some tests, Couple of reallocated sectors since day one
- Common for M5 drives apparently, Had to Power Cycle laptop a few times because BIOS couldn't find the drive sometimes
- Has been solid since this was done.

Introduction I decided to purchase this SSD to replace the HDD in my laptop around 6 months ago. It is a decision I do not regret one bit. I have experienced pretty much instant loading times, improved battery life, and a reduction in system temperature since the switch, and it has certainly...
Pros:
- Cheap compared to competitors
- low power consumption
- low operating temperature
Cons:
- Still expensive compared to HDDs

Nice product, nice price.
Bought this for my 2009 27" iMac, seemed a good replacement for the 1TB built in spinner. Had no trouble from it so far, speed improvement is fantastic. Tried putting an SSD into a MacBook previously and the MacBook wouldn't take it, so very happy that this worked first time.

It has been almost a year since Crucial/Micron introduced their new M500 family and, with that, came the news of what we then termed as a new Crucial M500 NGFF SSD that would be introduced to retail consumers.

Installed with only slight difficulty
I went through a few iterations to install the drive. It was not possible to create a mirror image of the original using a USB external drive box because of format restrictions. I installed the SSD drive in the computer, and with a free program called "Macrium Reflect" the cloning worked like a...

Great drive with lots of speed. Hope it lasts and doesnt crap out after a year or so. Downgraded it because it didnt include an adapter for a 3.5 slot.
Pros:
- Great drive
- Gave me the extra speed I needed for the computer I use as a small business server
Cons:
- said comes with a adapter but I had to order one that would work in a 3.5 slot
