It's hard to get through a checkout line at even the grocery store nowadays without seeing some rendition of flash drive for sale. There are a dizzying array of sizes, colors and shapes with performance that generally runs from downright atrocious to decent.

Corsair designed the Flash Voyager GTR with best in class performance in mind and we can they achieved this goal. Except for the odd Flash Memory Toolkit write benchmark, which was promptly discredited by the actual real-world performance test, the GTR was constantly faster than every other drives...

USB flash drives have been around for quite some time now. Out of all the drives I've ever reviewed my favorite line of drives has to be the Flash Voyager series from Corsair. The main reason is because they are basically indestructible.

Write speeds were a little off

We have already ran a number of benchmarks against Corsair's Flash Voyager GT 32GB flash drive, which can be found in Testing Out Linux File-Systems On A USB Flash Drive . In that article we benchmarked the FAT32, EXT3, EXT4, XFS, Btrfs, and ReiserFS file-systems on this very flash drive.

The price for the drive is Rs 2,200. That's not very expensive for the performance and the sturdy build quality that you get. Even though this is supposed to be one of the higher-end flash drives, it makes good value for money.

Durability & Appearance: The Corsair Flash Voyager GT 16GB is covered in a protective water resistant rubber coating.  Although I didn't throw the drive at wall or any other extreme activity it is obviously very durable for everyday use.

But not all USB drives are created equal and only some deliver on all the promises of speedy transfer times, ease of use and rugged build quality. Today I have the Corsair Voyager GT 2GB to evaluate, and we will see if it lives up to the expectation as the new standard for a portable data storage...
