The time has finally come to end the Lords of Shadow story arch and Dracula is coming into the spotlight. The Lords of Shadow story arch has been a tremendous series for Castlevania.

The first Lords of Shadow was a line in the sand for many old school Castlevania fans. Mercury Steam's departure from the familiar 2D gameplay and the non-canon nature of its story generated an outcry of naysayers, who still reminisced about the heyday of Symphony of the Night .

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 built upon its predecessor in many meaningful ways, but it frequently stumbles whenever attempting something new. Comparing the segments set within Dracula's castle to those in the modern city shows a clear difference in approach.

The Castlevania franchise is long and storied at this point as Lords of Shadow 2 marks the 35 th installment in the series (crazy, I know). With that comes a very convoluted back story and history that may leave newcomers, and probably some veterans, scratching their heads over the plot to this one...

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow most likely caught people by surprise. For one, it was a title done by a western developer, MercurySteam, and not by legendary series producer Koji Igarashi and his Konami team.

Playing as Dracula could have been handled so many different ways, and while I don't agree with everything that MercurySteam did with Lords of Shadow 2, the positive aspects overwhelm the negative. This is a worthy and fitting end to a fine trilogy.
