Do not know how long this has been, but in my opinion if you do not need 600 model, I can say that the little is better than the big bulky, much more that you do not want. 430 III is a very good FLASH arguably better than the 600 model, and I'm with the group, small fast everything can and do I get...

Canon speedlite 430EX II

If you are going to learn to take great pictures indoors or outdoors sooner or later you will need an external flash, and I highly recommend Canon speedlite. I used It on the first day that I recieved It and was amazed how different the pictures looked with a external flash.

Do not buy for professional work!

Like so many reviews here (that I wish I read before purchasing) I have to agree that you shouldnt buy this for professional work. The speedlite is really unreliable, after about 15-30 shots in succession the flash will just grind to a halt and only for maybe every 4th or 5th photo.

Canon Speedlite 430EX III-RT Flash Review

With the introduction of the Speedlite 600EX-RT, one thing was inevitable – more radio-enabled flashes from Canon should be expected. Surprisingly, the 600EX-RT remained Canon's only radio-enabled flash for more than three years.
