Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS USM lens

For most photographic applications, either 70-200mm f/2.8 lens is an outstanding tool that produces exceptional image quality. Deciding whether to buy the IS lens or the non-IS lens should probably revolve around the photographer's perceived need to have image stabilization.

Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM Lens Review

Performance of the lens is disappointing - for ~US$1,500 we expect a lens that performs consistently well and that's where Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM fails. The lens shows very good performance in the shorter zoom range (70-135mm), but falls short towards the longer end.

REVIEW: Canon 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS

It's easy to see why this lens is so popular or so high on people’s wish list. The build quality alone should ensure that whatever treatment is dished out to it, it will last a lifetime.
Pros:
  • Build quality, Autofocus speed, Optical quality (especially towards edges), Value for money (Feels like it will last forever)
Cons:
  • Weight/balance (needs a heavy camera to balance), Tripod mount(difficult removal)

Review: Canon RF 70-200mm F2.8 L IS USM (A Work of Art)

After first laying eyes on the Canon RF 70-200mm f2.8 L IS USM nearly a year ago, I wasn’t sure what to expect when the review unit came in. What I didn’t realize is that it would quickly become one of my favorite telephoto zoom lenses.
Pros:
  • It’s small, See above, Beautiful bokeh, Pretty close focusing, Nice, sharp images, Fast-focusing and tracking, Weather sealing, Image quality, Image stabilization, Build quality, The size, Autofocus, A fine example of Canon’s abilities when it comes to lenses in the Mirrorless world, Beautiful bokeh
Cons:
  • The tripod collar is too large for its own good. Rotating it will only guarantee that it gets in the way of using the lens, The control ring should probably be closer to the front of the lens, but we’re not sure how many folks are using it, It’s a bit pricey, but we understand why

Canon RF 70-200mm F2.8 L IS USM Review

The Canon RF 70-200mm F2.8 L IS USM is the smallest telezoom of its type, but it's priced at a premium. The Canon RF 70-200mm F2.8 L IS USM ($2,699) is the company's first pro-grade telezoom for its full-frame mirrorless camera system, currently headlined by the EOS R5. The design is a must-have for photographers covering events, as it offers enough reach to keep your distance, and an f/2.8 aperture to blur out backgrounds and isolate your subject. It's priced on the high side, a full $600 more than the Canon EF 70-200mm F2.8 L IS III USM for SLRs, but R system mirrorless owners may find the extra cost worth it, as the RF 70-200mm offers excellent optics and a compact, collapsible design. The Compact 70-200mm The RF 70-200mm is the first pro-grade zoom of its focal length and aperture to sport a collapsing design. It's much shorter, just 5.8 inches long, at 70mm than at 200mm (8.2 inches), so it's easier to find a home for it in your camera bag. It's about 3.5 inches in diameter, and supports 77mm front filters. Canon includes a reversible hood, complete with a retractable cut-out w...

Canon RF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM Lens - Brand New review

The Canon 70-200mm F2.8 L IS USM is quite simply an excellent lens, which will reward users with quality images in almost every situation. On full-frame 35mm, sharpness is very good even wide open, becoming excellent corner-to-corner when stopped down.
Pros:
  • Superb build quality, Highly effective image stabilization, Excellent autofocus and manual override, Consistently high image quality across almost all of the range
Cons:
  • Slightly soft wide open (most notably on APS-C), Average close-up performance, Somewhat susceptible to flare with direct light sources in or close to the frame
