Canon PowerShot SX740 HS
The pocket-sized Canon Powershot SX740 HS is perfect for travellers, or anyone on the move, thanks to its compact, portable design and ability to capture truly great stills and video.
Perfectly portable
The Canon Powershot SX740 HS is not at all big or heavy. Just 110.1 mm high, 63.8 mm wide and 39.9 mm deep…and a tick under 300 grams including battery and memory card. Now that is portable!
Big on performance
Small in nature but big in the quality it delivers, this compact camera is all you need thanks to 40x optical zoom, superfast DIGIC processing and 4K resolution. Capture everything in 20.3MP detail without carrying a heavy and cumbersome camera to do it.
Point and shoot
Getting great shots is made easy with that DIGIC 8 processor. Think of it as your photographic adviser as it manages camera settings, including Zoom Framing Assist and Hybrid Auto, so you can achieve spectacular results even when you just point and shoot.
You won't miss a thing
All that quality is nothing if you don't capture the moment. Fortunately, the Canon Powershot SX740 HS has supremely responsive shutter release and 10 fps continuous shooting.
Super selfies
Leave the phone in your pocket and grab the perfect selfie with the snappy Self Portrait mode and a flip up LCD screen.
Easy to share
It's easy to take great photos, and just as easy to share them with Bluetooth, Wi-Fi connectivity and auto transfer. This makes it a piece of cake to share and back-up photos to compatible smart devices or your home PC.

Good but expected more
I like this camera but I don't love it yet. I used it on holiday recently and whilst the photos were good, they were about the same as the ones I took on my phone. I had a Canon about 10 years ago, which had lots of great settings and features that this one doesn't so I was a bit disappointed.
Canon PowerShot SX740 HS Review – Powerful and Portable
In recent years, many CPC units have come in for some stick when compared to the capabilities of DSL cameras, as well as the closing gap between smartphone cameras. That said, it isn't as if compact cameras haven't also made some gains as well, and the Canon PowerShot SX740 HS is one of those units.- Very compact
- Great features
- Easy pick-up-and-click
- Great zoom detail
- Smaller sensor (not ideal for low light
- No Raw image format
- No touchscreen
Canon SX740 HS review
The Canon PowerShot SX740 HS is an update to the SX730 HS from 2017. As upgrades go, it's on the conservative side, with Canon's newer DIGIC 8 processor now providing 4k video and 10fps continuous shooting, but everything else remaining pretty much the same as before.
Excellent camera
This has to be the best 4k super zoom camera on the market today.
Point & Shoot Excellence
I get a lot of use out of these little Canon Powershots because they do everything I need a camera for and didn't need to pay a fortune for a bunch of camera equipment that does the same thing.
Canon PowerShot SX740 HS
Hard to beat this camera at this price point. Zoom is hands down the best at this price. Wireless image transfer is a nice feature, as well as the 4K video. My wife uses the camera mainly for wildlife pictures and she's happy with it- Zoom
- 4K video
- screen
- Exposure has a completely different feel than older model
Canon Powershot SX740HS Black SX740HS review
The Canon PowerShot SX740 HS is almost identical to its predecessor the SX730 HS. However, an upgrade to the processing engine gives the new camera a faster continuous shooting rate and UHD 4K (3840 x 2160) video capability at 29.97/25fps.
Canon Powershot SX740 HS Review
The Canon Powershot SX740 HS updates the SX730 HS , and adds 4K video recording, as well as offering faster continuous shooting. The sensor remains a 20.1mp BSI CMOS sensor, and there's an impressively long 40x optical zoom lens, with improved image stabilisation.- 40x optical zoom lens

- 4K video recording added
