I am returning this camera because: 1. Very bad fringe on picture edges, red on right, green on left
Very impressive stabilization to take fully zoomed pictures and videos from hand

The cheap CCD senor is big drawback in this camera for this price range. Im wondering why canon did not use CMOS sensor which would have increased the image quality in low light conditions and also faster FPS performance
Great shot; great Video; Very quick shots wonderful zoom most pics clear when max zoom 120x
doesnt take good motion pics
My Canon PowerShot SX500 IS review finds that this ultra zoom camera is an adequate model with some nice features, but that also has quite a few performance drawbacks.
Although the Canon PowerShot SX500 offers a pretty nice feature list, its performance is below average in enough areas that it's tough to recommend this camera to most photographers who are just seeking a large zoom camera.
With prices constantly coming down in the digital camera market, Canon's range was crying out for a low-cost camera with a very powerful zoom, as already proffered by the likes of Olympus and Nikon.
Practical to handle; clear interface; Quick zoom-out button to find a subject that's moved out of view at telephoto settings; Good sharpness levels in the middle of the frame at all focal lengths
Very plasticky build / Screen looks dark when viewed from below; Photo-to-photo turnaround is too slow; Sensitivity isn't great; chromatic aberration visible on 4" x 6" photos; Video mode could be better (contrast; noise; audio; etc.
The unique selling point of this camera has to be the ability to remain compact, while incorporating a fantastic built in zoom. In the past, bridge cameras were closer to the size, and price, of an entry level DSLR.
not an automatic flash
did take great pictures in a subdued light
Easy To Use; Fast/accurate auto-focus; Good Image Quality; Good Image Stabilization; Good in Low Light; Great Zoom; Large Clear LCD; Nice Body Color; Small / Compact
Lag / Shutter Delay; Short Battery Life
awsome camera...awsome pictures..great quality... I would determinately recommend this product to: - Beginners who want to capture good shots - Want to purchase a good camera in budget
If you need a long zoom in a compact body, then you won't get much lengthier or smaller than the Canon PowerShot SX500 IS. The 30x lens is truly impressive in so compact a device. With enough pixels to allow serious crops in post-production and still have sufficient resolution to print at fairly...
Long zoom; Low price; Accurate colour reproduction
Image noise at conservative sensitivities; Colour fringing; Wind noise on movies
