Canon PowerShot SX210 IS

A year after releasing the PowerShot SX200 IS, Canon has upped the ante with the SX210 IS. Resolution is boosted to 14 megapixels and the zoom lens range is extended from 12x to 14x, but kept its 28mm equivalent wide angle of view. The new camera is offered in black or purple.

Canon Powershot SX210 IS Review – Zoooom!

Conclusion: The Canon Powershot SX210 IS has an impressive zoom range, one of the longest reaches available at 14x optical zoom – zooming all the way to the equivalent of 392mm – normally this level of optical zoom comes in the form of an SLR-style ultra zoom.
Pros:
  • What I Don't Like
  • – Vignetting when using full 14x optical zoom
  • – Noise (black dots) in some images
  • – Strong purple fringing / chromatic abberations
  • – Slow fps
  • and slightly sluggish shot to shot time
  • – Only one 16:9 Widescreen photo mode at 9mp
  • – Auto / Manual pop-up flash may annoy some
  • –...

Canon PowerShot SX210 IS review

The Canon PowerShot SX210 IS is the rare camera that's sure to please a variety of users, making this pocket megazoom a solid recommendation for any camera shopper. It's a more-conservative buy than the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX5V, but it's still a fun camera with top-notch performance.

Canon PowerShot SX210 IS

The Canon PowerShot SX210's predecessor was a very popular camera with a few flaws. With this follow-up, Canon has ironed out some of the kinks of that earlier model and, in the process, created one of the best all-around, affordable compact cameras I've tried.
Pros:
  • Impressive feature-set for a camera in this class
  • Extremely versatile 14x (28mm-392mm equivalent) lens
  • Comfortable
  • ergonomic design
  • Fun new Fish-eye and Miniature scene modes
  • Great 720p HD video mode with stereo sound recording
  • Optical zoom supported in movies
  • Easy to switch between still and
Cons:
  • Somewhat slow performance (but on-par with competition in this category
  • Macro shots somewhat soft
  • No HDMI cable included
  • Mode dial hard to turn
  • Lens doesn't go as wide as competing models

Beyond my expectations

Got this for the small size and 14X optical zoom - first pocket Canon I've found that can zoom in video mode and it refocuses as you zoom in! Hi def video mode, color quality, ease of use, all are great.

Canon Powershot 210is

This is a great camera from Canon. The long 14x optical zoom , with wide angle makes it a versatile camera for all situations. A great travel camera especially. I like the fact its still small enough to put in you pocket, so you can take it everywhere with you.
