Its ok

I bought this camera last year. Using it for stills it is quite good but the video results have not turned out as well as I thought they might. Regarding recommending this camera, it all depends what it is to be used for.

Canon G5 X is mature photo machine!

I had a three choices chosen so far, between Canon G5 X, Panasonic ZS-100 and Olympus OMD E-M10 II. Olympus was too bulky comes with a lens only 3.5 in a short end. Panasonic shoots 4K videos and has a 10x zoom, but my final chose landed on Canon G5X, witch build solid, has a excellent VF with...

The PowerShot G5 X is a well-designed and easy-to-use premium compact that takes good quality photos and videos and offers a nice EVF and LCD on which to compose them. It's subpar battery life, so-so lens and sluggish continuous Raw shooting keep it from being a top choice.

Inching forward? Canon PowerShot G5 X review posted

The PowerShot G5 X is a well-designed and easy-to-use premium compact that takes good quality photos and videos and offers a nice EVF and LCD on which to compose them. It's subpar battery life, so-so lens and sluggish continuous Raw shooting keep it from being a top choice.

Those who want good image quality in a small body that has an EVF and many direct controls.;

Those who want to shoot all day without a battery change, shoot bursts of Raw images or want to photograph moving subjects.;

Canon PowerShot G5 X review: The G5 X is good, but for the price it lags behind the best

With the same 1-inch 20-megapixel sensor and 24-100mm f1.8-2.8 lens as the G7 X, the Canon PowerShot G5 X targets basically the same enthusiast photographers, but with a photo-nerdier design that includes a very nice high-resolution built-in OLED electronic viewfinder, hot shoe and a more useful flip-and-twist articulated touchscreen rather than the selfie-oriented flip-up screen. It's a fine camera, but unless the more useful display and above-average viewfinder matter most to you, then it doesn't really stand out from the pack.

Sluggish performance and a more limited feature set than similarly priced competitors hold the Canon PowerShot G5 back from being a leading contender among its peers.

The Canon PowerShot G5 X has a great viewfinder and a comfortable shooting design for serious photographers.

It can be frustratingly slow; with a short battery life.

I recently bought a G5 X as a walkaround and to compliment my Canon mirrorless and DSLR kit comprising 2 x EOS RP and a 7D MKI. I've only been using it for a week and am really impressed with the IQ and ease of use.

Excellent

This is the first PowerShot camera I've owned. It's smaller than it appears in photos, but takes outstanding photos. The electronic viewfinder is excellent, bright and detailed. Controls similar to Canon DSLR's and menus are easy to follow. Well built and easy to carry.

Solid camera with a lot of creative possibilities

I've been Canon 5D shooter for the last 12 years or so. Decided to also have something small to keep with me all the time, saw this one in a store and it felt so nice to hold...I decided to do some research on it.

Wonderful little camera!

I have downgraded from a (little used, as I simply didn't carry it around with me) full frame dslr to this compact and am pleasantly surprised at the image quality in good light. There is a definite loss of detail in low light but I can't expect miracles from such a small package.

Easy To Use; Great Image Quality; Nice Features and Settings

Not Good In Low Light
