Shopping for my first laser printer, my intention was to buy a Brother MFC, somewhere in the $300 to $400 range. Something told me to keep looking around on the day I was planning to buy the printer.
This printer has worked amazingly well for my needs so far for my home office. We had a little trouble with the initial set up. I suggest you download the drivers on your computer before setting up anything with the printer to make sure you have a smooth setup.
Conclusion The Canon imageClass MF416dw is a well-built mono laser all-in-one printer with excellent text quality and passable images and graphics. A comparably high cost per page, however, diminishes its overall value.
Good text quality; Supports USB, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct, and NFC connectivity; Duplexing ADF; Respectable print speed; Color touch-screen display
High per-page cost of operation; Slightly below-average images and graphics; High purchase price
The Canon imageClass MF416dw ($499) is a capable monochrome laser all-in-one printer for a small, home, or micro office. Its strengths include excellent text quality, a wide range of connection choices, and a generous feature set with goodies like a duplexing automatic document feeder. Overall, there are very few differences between these three printers (as well as a few other imageClass models released with this group). For example, despite the $100 difference in price, the Canon MF414dw lacks only Near-Field Communication (NFC) and support for Adobe PostScript, while both are available on the MF416dw. I bought it two months ago. Small paper tray. Complicated to set up. Two sided printing when I want single sided printing.
