  • Ease to use, Feels great in the hands, Full-frame sensor, Versatile controls, Vari-angle touch screen is a great inclusion, Support for 4K video

Canon EOS R8

At times while reviewing it, I almost forgot that the Canon EOS R8 was an entry-level camera. With its full-frame sensor, generally excellent autofocus and 4K/60p video capabilities, it comes with a lot of features that, not too long ago, would be reserved for higher-end models.
Pros:
  • Great photo and video quality, Lightweight, compact body, Excellent photography autofocus
Cons:
  • No in-body image stabilisation, Short battery life, Recording time limitations

Canon EOS R8 review

The Canon EOS R8’s compact size and light weight make it very competitive in the enthusiast camera category, although the lack of adequate weatherproofing will be a disincentive to outdoor photographers.

Canon EOS R8 review

An affordable camera that can punch above its weight in stills and 4K video. While its poor battery life keeps it from being a slam-dunk recommendation, you get a lot of camera for your money in the EOS R8. Its simple control scheme is great for beginners, and feature-packed for more advanced users, and its flip-out LCD makes it flexible for off-angle shooting and vlogging.
Pros:
  • Full frame beginners, who don't want a big heavy camera. Occasional vloggers, and videographers who don't need to roll footage for long periods. Canon RF users looking for a second body with great image quality.
Cons:
  • High-speed sports shooting. Those hoping for a wide array of affordable lenses. Wilderness types who venture away from power outlets for days on end.

Canon EOS R8 review

The Canon EOS R8 essentially takes the sensor of the higher-end R6 II and packs it into a simpler, lighter body more akin to the entry-level RP. As such it’s perfectly positioned between those two models, delivering the photo, video and autofocus of the R6 II at a much more affordable price.

Canon EOS R8 review

The Canon EOS R8 is one of the cheapest full-frame cameras on the market, and while it is missing some high-end features you won’t find a better full-frame camera for this price. Its design and handling are beginner-friendly, but if you’re more advanced then you’ll likely outgrow this camera before...
Pros:
  • Excellent tracking and autofocus, Very affordable for a full-frame camera, Lightweight and compact form factor
Cons:
  • Low-resolution EVF and LCD screen, No IBIS, Small battery means shorter battery life
