It has been five years since Canon introduced a camera that I wanted in my kit more than the 5Ds R. Canon appears to have held nothing back from the incredibly feature-filled EOS R5. I'm betting the R5 is the camera I've been waiting for.

I have a lot more testing to do for my final EOS R5 review, but first impressions are certainly looking very strong indeed. Canon really does appear to have put everything into this camera with the minimum of caveats other than an understandably high asking price of around 4 grand.

The Canon EOS R5 is definitely an admirable performer befitting a price of $3,899 and its billing as the top dog in Canon’s R-Series mirrorless lineup. The camera has great ergonomics, even for those with large hands, and a comprehensive menu system that’s very easy to navigate.

Still photographers will find little at fault with the high-resolution Canon EOS R5, but heat management issues will leave video-first creatives looking elsewhere.
