Canon have produced a highly functional camera in the new EOS M6. This entry level camera will take amazing pictures despite its non-extravagant look. It’s small, light (weighing in at a mere 390g) and is perfect for traveling, hiking and other slow-paced adventure sports. Here are some specifications to help you decide whether this is the camera for you.

The first feature worth mentioning is the 24.2MP function this camera delivers. The camera may not be the most glamorous, but the image quality is hard to beat for such an entry level device. The Canon EOS M6 also has a video recording capability, and your videos will reach up to 60p in full HD (7 frames per second).

To further assist the quality of your photos, anti-shaking software has been installed courtesy of 5-Axis Digital IS. You’ll also be happy to learn that Dual Pixel CMOS AF also forms part of your camera to ensure quick response on photos, and smooth recording for videos. Finally, there is also a built-in low-pass filter which will help you do some basic editing before you even move images to another device!

This camera also boasts WiFi & Bluetooth functions for easy sharing of your images. If you’re part of a community of photographers who come together to share, then this camera will serve you well in building photographer relationships.

Canon EOS M6 review

The Canon EOS M6 isn't quite specified up to the standard we'd expect for a camera with such a price tag, but it's a sound all-round performer and perfectly good choice for EOS M and EOS M10 users looking for something a little more powerful.
Pros:
  • Plenty of direct control
  • Compact and lightweight
  • Very good autofocus system
  • Great operational speeds
Cons:
  • Better build quality expected at this level
  • No integrated viewfinder
  • No 4K video recording
  • No electronic shutter option

CANON EOS M6 Mirrorless Camera with EF-M 15-45 mm f/3.5-6.3 IS STM Lens

Pros:
  • I had the original EOS M for years and despite it's painfully slow autofocus I loved it
  • I've only had this a couple of weeks and it's such a step up
  • Excellent build quality, the sensor is awesome and the autofocus is a massive leap forward
Cons:
  • A bit pricey compared to other manufacturers

Love Manual Focus

I mainly shoot with Canon DSLRs, also own another brand mirrorless camera and was curious about what progress Canon was making in the mirrorless product space so on an impulse I bought the M6.

Very disappointed - poor quality, slow focus

I purchased this camera in November 2017, hoping for a dSLR quality camera in a smaller, lighter weight package. It is smaller and somewhat lighter, but much poorer quality than a regular dSLR.

For the EOS M6, Canon strips down the M5

This cut-price version of Canon's flagship mirrorless should probably be a little cheaper. The EOS M6, Canon's mirrorless model to replace its middle-child M3, is for the same people that all the other entry-level mirrorless folks are targeting: people who want something with the same photo quality as a cheap-ish dSLR to supplement their phone. So the company stripped the viewfinder off its M5 -- it's an option on the M6 -- and redesigned the body a bit.

Canon EOS M6 Review

If you are looking for an extremely high image quality to camera size ratio, the Canon EOS M6 may have your name on it. While the M6 is a tiny camera, it gives up nothing in terms of image quality to any of Canon's other current APS-C sensor format EOS models, including both DSLR cameras and MILCs...

The Canon EOS M6 was enjoyable to take out for a few days of shooting, and its image quality is plenty good enough for everyday photography needs. As is typical with Canon's mirrorless cameras, the image quality in the M6 is really good, with realistic colors and just the right contrast level.
