Great combination of unbeatable image quality, compactness, build quality and versatility!

Image Quality is outstanding, Compact enough to easily fit in cargo pants pockets even with 18-55mm zoom lens attached, Excellent build, solid and well constructed; Ability to adjust settings during video use; DSLR quality without the bulk and weight.

Not ideal for rapidly moving subjects; No vie finder

I use this as a back up when travelling,

Due to it's light weight and the ability to use my existing Canon EF lenses I find that it useful as a backup for my main camera when travelling by air

Durable; Great Picture Quality; Lightweight; Simple Controls

No Optical Viewfinder; View Finder Bad In Sun

Canon EOS M review

Canon hasn't exactly been quick out of the blocks in the race to launch compact system cameras and its first, the EOS M, comes four years after Panasonic kicked-off the whole shebang back in September 2008 with the launch of the Lumix G1 .

However, the M is let down by its AF system and its unbalanced feel that stems from it not having a decent grip.

2X tele-converter needed

I would REALLY like to have an M mount automatic 2X tele-converter to add to my options since the M mount lenses are so sparse. Even though I use the adapter to attach my EF lenses, I got the M for its small walk around size.

excellent image quality; Superior build quality; Lightweight/Portable

Canon EOS M

Late to the mirrorless camera game, the Canon EOS M wasn't a big hit at launch -- primarily due to reports of its glacial autofocus speeds. (Something we discovered here at IR immediately.

Solid; compact build and attractive; sleek design that borrows from Canon's PowerShot compacts; 18-megapixel; APS-C sensor delivers great; DSLR-like image quality (similar to the Rebel T4i; T5i and SL1; 3-inch LCD touchscreen monitor is bright and high-resolution; Robust video capabilities,

Autofocus speed; though now in the acceptable range thanks to a recent firmware update; is still slower than most other mirrorless cameras; Navigation and changing settings can be confusing as it's not always intuitive whether to use physical or touchscreen controls; Limited creative filters and

Canon has finally made the leap into ILC (interchangeable lens cameras) market with the long awaited EOS M. Along with the new camera comes a new line of EF-M lenses, designed specifically for this new mount.

Auto shooting mode is accurate and easy in all situations; Camera is ready to capture still images in video recording mode; Overall image quality is outstanding; Video quality is excellent; Continuous AF keeps your videos in focus; 3.0-inch Touch LCD is easy ot use and very high resolution; Burst...

No built-in flash unit; Only two lenses available for the EF-M mount; AF is very slow; Dedicated video recording button doesn't work in still shooting modes; Lacks features of other ILC cameras; IS is only available on lenses; not built into camera; Very few controls; makes using the manual features...

Canon EOS M

I liked the Canon EOS M more than I expected -- but less than I should have. It's got a compact, well-built and well-designed metal body, and a responsive touch screen with a streamlined interface, and it delivers the photo quality you expect from this class of camera.

With a very nice touch screen; a well-designed body; and excellent photo quality; the Canon EOS M has some attractive qualities

Seriously poor autofocus performance and battery life detract from the overall package
