Canon EOS 77D Review

Instead of following up the fantastic EOS Rebel T6s with a T7s, Canon has decided to call its successor the 77D ($899.99, body only), separating it from the Rebel line so enthusiasts will pay more attention. The 77D has a larger top information display than the T6s, adds a rear AF-ON button, which isn't included in any Rebel camera, and offers improved autofocus compared with the T6s, both when using the viewfinder and rear LCD. It's also a little more expensive, narrowing the gap between it and the better-built 80D, with which it shares a lot of technology. Because of this we're awarding Editors' Choice in our entry-level SLR category to its near twin, the Rebel T7i, which sells for $150 less. But if you're an aspiring shutterbug and don't want to spend the money on an 80D, the 77D is a more affordable alternative. Design The 77D ($949.00 at Amazon) looks more like the 80D than a Rebel in terms of size and shape. It measures 3.9 by 5.2 by 3.0 inches (HWD) and weighs about 1.2 pou...

The Canon EOS 77D is a midrange SLR camera that incorporates features from the entry-level Rebel series and the premium 80D.

24MP APS-C image sensor; 45-point cross-type autofocus system; 6fps burst shooting; Dual Pixel AF in Live View; Vari-angle touch LCD; Top information display; Wi-Fi

Video limited to 1080p; Pentamirror viewfinder

Went from an EOS 450d to this, a big difference in image quality, smooth with the swivel screen that has good sharpness and color rendering. The Wi-Fi features do not work any further, much layers. Too bad it's not weatherproof and the battery life could have been longer. Also missing audio output.

Canon EOS 77D Review

The 77D is a Rebel T7i in fancy clothes, but that might be enough for the right user.

Fair amount of direct access control; Great 45-point AF system; Dual Pixel Autofocus in live-view; Good image quality; Nice handgrip

Small viewfinder; Low capacity battery; 1080p video is showing its age

Canon EOS 77D Review

Breaking tradition was the Canon EOS Rebel T6s / 760D. Canon had prior-introduced a long line of flagship Rebel models (T** or ***D models in some locales), but ... never had they introduced two of these at the same time. That was ...

Earlier this year, Canon refreshed its mirrorless and enthusiast-level DSLR lineup with the introduction of the EOS M6, EOS 77D, and EOS 800D. Very good high-ISO performance; Built-in Wi-Fi; Fast autofocus for video; Decent battery life; Novice-friendly interface

No 4K video recording; Basic ISO adjustments; Burst shooting isn't impressive

Canon EOS 77D Review

Along with the EOS M6 and T7i/800D, the 77D was introduced by Canon earlier this year. Like the 800D , it's packed with a 24.2 Megapixel CMOS Sensor and the new DIGIC 7 image processor. For the body alone, this DSLR will set you back a little under Php50k.

Lightweight and compact; Solid build quality; Touch screen; Fast autofocus; Good image stabilization; Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Connectivity; Improved sensor and image processor; Clean and detailed images; Generous amount of dials and buttons

Too much saturation; using the standard picture profile; Choice of using the LP-E17 battery pack; Video mode incorporated into the power switch; No 4k video recording; Not weather sealed

Excellent image quality; 45-point autofocus system; Great Live View AF performance; Touchscreen interface

A little plasticky for its price; No 4K video; Good but not stellar continuous shooting speed
