Canon EOS 77D
A couple of years ago, Canon added two similar models to its EOS line-up in the form of the EOS 750D and EOS 760D . At the time, we questioned the manufacturer's rationale behind creating two cameras with near-identical specifications.
Pros:
- Comprehensive set of features
- Spritely autofocus in and out of live view
- Guided interface to aid DSLR newbies
- Effective in-body electronic stabilisation for movies
Cons:
- No weather sealing
- In-camera JPEG processing suppresses detail
- More expensive than competition

What's in a name? The EOS 77D may, at first glance, appear to be a new entry for Canon to slot between their Rebel T7i and EOS 80D. But dig a little deeper into the specifications and you'll see that the differentiators between the 77D and the Rebel T7i are about as significant as those between the...

Canon EOS 77D Review
The Canon EOS 77D is a midrange SLR camera that incorporates features from the entry-level Rebel series and the premium 80D. Instead of following up the fantastic EOS Rebel T6s with a T7s, Canon has decided to call its successor the 77D ($899.99, body only), separating it from the Rebel line so enthusiasts will pay more attention. The 77D has a larger top information display than the T6s, adds a rear AF-ON button, which isn't included in any Rebel camera, and offers improved autofocus compared with the T6s, both when using the viewfinder and rear LCD. It's also a little more expensive, narrowing the gap between it and the better-built 80D, with which it shares a lot of technology. Because of this we're awarding Editors' Choice in our entry-level SLR category to its near twin, the Rebel T7i, which sells for $150 less. But if you're an aspiring shutterbug and don't want to spend the money on an 80D, the 77D is a more affordable alternative. Design The 77D ($949.00 at Amazon) looks more like the 80D than a Rebel in terms of size and shape. It measures 3.9 by 5.2 by 3.0 inches (HWD) and weighs about 1.2 pou...

Canon EOS 77D review: DSLR megastar, or one model number too far?
You've probably heard it time and again: " cameras are dying". Well, not if Canon has anything to do with it. The Japanese camera maker seems to be investing in a DSLR for every user level, with the latest EOS 77D fitting into the range beneath its 80D mid-ranger to carve out a new sub-category for...
