Canon EOS 6D review by kendigital

I bought a 6D Fall 2013 and have been on a shooting binge, gaining a good feel for the features and performance of this camera. I also own a 5D MK II and 60D so it's hard not to notice the 6D is a marriage of the two older cameras: full frame innards of the 5D MKII coupled with the petite form...
Pros:
  • easy on the shoulder
  • amazing image quality
Cons:
  • No FEC button
  • missing popup flash

The $2,000 price-point is a fascinating one for DSLRs and ILCs, with a bounty of excellent choices, whether it be Olympus' flagship OM-D E-M1 Mark II, Nikon's flagship APS-C-sensor D500, or this entry-level Full Frame EOS 6Dii.
Pros:
  • Affordable Full Frame performance
  • Access to a deep stable of exceptional Canon EF glass
  • Excellent color and contrast reproduction
  • Very Good ISO performance
  • Vari-angle & touchscreen useful for odd angles
  • More amenities than the previous generation
  • Versatile Auto Focus systems (optical & Live...
Cons:
  • Slower & less rugged than flagship mirrorless systems
  • Lacks 4K Video Recording
  • No in-body image stabilization

6D Mark II brings Canon's cheapest full-frame dSLR up to date

It's the company's first full-frame dSLR with a movable LCD, which is kind of sad. It's been an eventful 5 years for camera technology since Canon released its prosumer-focused full-frame dSLR, the EOS 6D, including Sony launching the first full-frame mirrorless A7 in 2013 and subsequent generations of models. So it's kind of hard to get excited about the EOS 6D Mark II, which on one hand is significantly updated over its predecessor, but on the other is basically Canon just making it current for 2017. Of course, Nikon hasn't been very busy in that segment either: its competing D610 is 4 years old.

Back in 2012, Canon unleashed one of the most popular cameras to ever grace the market, the EOS 6D . Packing in a 20.2MP full-frame CMOS sensor, the camera was powered by the outstanding Digic 5+ processor and boasted a native ISO of 100-25,600.

Canon 6d Mark II review

I was so pumped when the Canon 6D Mark II rumors were pouring out and when it was announced . Then, early reports concerned me about the image quality; however, I was also a little hopeful that the numbers and charts wouldn’t necessarily reflect real world experience.

The EOS 6D offers a silent, low vibration shooting mode. By slowing down and muting the shutter and mirror reflex action, the camera is capable of handheld, virtually imperceptible operation for discrete shooting in more situations.

Canon EOS 6D Mark II review

The EOS 6D Mark II is a major step forward from the original 6D, but more in operational speed and performance than outright image quality. It's a terrific camera to use, but its price puts it up against a number of strong cameras.
Pros:
  • Fast Dual Pixel live view AF
  • Great vari-angle rear touchscreen
  • Handling
  • build and controls
Cons:
  • No 4K video
  • Image quality hasn't moved on
  • Only one card slot
