Canon EOS 5D MK III
After Nikon's D90, it felt like the crown of video would go to that firm. But, surprisingly, it was Canon that swooped in, and hoovered up the newly established video-from-SLR market.
Pros:
- Stills are beautiful
- capable of producing superb video
- lightning-fast auto-focus
- rapid shooting
- solidly built
Cons:
- No "clean" HDMI output
- buttons to control camera settings take some getting used to
- we'd love to see some more high frame-rate modes

The 5d3 is a serious upgrade over the 5d2. It improves the 5d2 in nearly every department. The main improvements are to the cameras reliability- if you need a camera that just works, every time, then previously that meant a 1 series camera, now it can be extended to the 5d3 as well.

It's more about evolution and innovation (as opposed to revolution) in the digital SLR realm right now. Like the American Idol effect on singers to the untrained ear, the clarity and performance that photographers expect from the soon-to-be-legendary Canon EOS 5D Mark III has to live up to the hype.

Spectacular low light performance
This camera does so many things well it is hard to know where to start, but the most impressive feature for me is the low light performance. I often shoot sports or travel photography in very challenging light conditions, and although my Canon 50D gave reasonably good results at ISO 2500, on my last...

Canon EOS 5D Mark III is a terrific camera
This is far and away the best camera I have ever owned. The pictures are fantastic and features are at a professional level and easy to use even for us ameteurs. The resolution is not as good as the Nikon but the superior noise control more than makes up for it.

New creative capabilities abound
I had heard that the low light ability of this camera was good but I never knew how good it was until I shot some stars over a lighthouse - I was wowed and feel like I have opened the door to a whole new creative zone that had not been as accessible to me before.

Canon 5D Mark iii
I love this camera. I had a rebel before. I am in school now for photography and went straight to this. I am happy I didn't go with a lower end camera.
