Taking Point and Shoot to the next level

We purchased this camera for our teenage daughter who wanted to move beyond a point and shoot camera. Purchasing a DSLR camera can be a daunting experience, but the staff at Henry's (Orleans) were amazing.

Canon EOS 1100D

The Canon 1100D offers a good shooting experience for a great price, with enough features and functions to satisfy SLR beginners. Compared to the competition though, the 1100D falls behind the pack in terms of top-line specifications and overall build quality.

Comes in a range of colours; Bracketing; Great image quality on default settings

Can feel a little plastic-y compared to other entry-level cameras; Only a 2.7-inch LCD screen; No AF lock button; No external microphone input

Canon's EOS 1100D enters the market as a stripped down version of its more expensive siblings, the 550D and 600D. Banking on its genetic lineage, it hopes to stand on its own with less perks and a matching lower price tag.

: Image quality; Relatively user-friendly; Cheapest entry-point to Canon DSLR system : Plastic finish feels a bit cheap; No rubberisation on grip; Contrast-detect live view AF is slow

Combines functionality with ease of use

Excellent camera for someone just starting out with DSLR and who wants to start taking better images. The real treat in this camera is the ease of use. It gives you an easy transition from simple point and shoots or even if you're just picking up a camera for the first time.

Quick Start-up time; Excellent image quality; Bright LCD; Solid Operation; Lightweight/Portable; Simple controls/menu; Easy to use

Perfect For All

I bought this camera last week from DickSmith. It is an AWESOME entry level camera. You quickly learn how to use it, and within hours your taking brilliant quality pics. I would however recommend buying the twin kit (2 lens), as you'll find to buy the second lens is a lil over priced when not in the...

Amazing!

This camera isn't very sensitive to shaking, which is good because my hands are the exact opposite of steady! Both lenses perform brilliantly and battery life is pretty good. And it's a good price for amateur photographers/film makers!

Canon EOS Rebel T3/1100D Camera – Review

Kelly Lynch tries out Canon's new entry-level offering.

Good low light shots; Easy access to most controls; Competitive price; On-screen feature guide

Metering options not on camera back; No spot meter; Memory card a little difficult to extract

A nice entry level DSLR

It is just like teaching A,B,C,D to a nursery kid. It has self explanable features, which tells u what is the use of the particular feature. But it is quite noisy, when it comes to clicking pics in a silent area. The display resolution could have been better.

Overall, Canon EOS 1100D works great as an entry level DSLR camera and promises to deliver unmatchable performance with its cutting edge technology and various enthralling features.

LCD screen is not very bright; lacks in-built cleaning system and manual video settings
