Canon EOS 100D review

Nearly a hit, but the 100D's small stature doesn't quite make up for its stripped-back features

Small; light body; Live View performance; Great picture quality

No flip-out screen; Stripped-back controls; The 700D does more

After a few weeks of use (about 700bilder) it feels still quite right. Crisp images, easy to use. (However, the price falls in the fast right now)

Review: Canon EOS 100D - The Most Compact DSLR Till Date

Nowadays entry level DSLRs are priced as much as flagship smartphones. If you want more control over the kind of photographs you take, there are enough DSLR options to pick from. One such camera is the Canon EOS 100D.

Good build quality; Rich in features; Lightweight and compact

Expensive; No Wi-Fi or in-built geo-tagging; High colour saturation in tone priority mode

EUROPEAN SLR CAMERA

The Canon EOS 100D is the world's smallest and lightest APS-C Digital SLR. As a reflex camera, it offers a very high level of performance, and it is compatible with the accessories and lenses of the EOS family, even though some of the lenses will look big when attached to this tiny model.

Great for travel

Perfect entry level DSLR. Super lightweight and easy to use. Touchscreen is excellent and battery life is great. This camera is perfect as a second camera or as a travel camera. Price may be an issue for some, but as always shop around.

Good battery life; Quiet; Nice features/settings; Excellent image quality; Bright LCD; Solid Operation; Lightweight/Portable; Simple controls/menu; Easy to use

Canon took the standard Rebel and whittled it into a smaller body, removing only a few features, while adding one very important one: improved live view autofocus. The result is a mature camera for the family photographer that's not a burden to bring along, but which can also serve as a reliable,...

Very small and light with good grip for small to medium-size hands; High ISO shots are quite usable; even above ISO 6400; Excellent LCD and responsive touchscreen; Special coating minimizes fingerprint smudges from touchscreen use; Hybrid AF II / STM lens combo is noticeably improved for live view...

May be too small for those with larger hands; Grip may be insufficient for use with larger lenses; AF illuminator integrated into flash (must have flash engaged to use it; Flash produces red-eye in Night portrait mode; Non-STM lenses struggle in live view and in movie servo AF; Default dynamic range...

Canon SL1

The Canon SL1 is the smallest and lightest DSLR that we've ever reviewed, delivering DSLR performance and image quality in a body that's almost as small as today's mirrorless camera models. Its features and image quality rival those of its bigger siblings, the Canon Rebel T4i and T5i.

Extremely compact and lightweight for a DSLR; Delivers good image quality that's virtually identical to the Canon T4i/T5i; Accurate and relatively fast autofocus with improved Live View and Movie Hybrid CMOS II AF; Full 1080p HD movie recording; Better-than average kit lens (EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6...

Still not as compact as most mirrorless cameras; Slightly worse than average dynamic range and high ISO performance; Poor battery life, Despite its reduced size, body not as small as most compact system cameras because it still has to accommodate the DSLR mirror, LCD is not articulating (like it is...

Very good compact DSLR

It is a very good compact DSLR. Image quality also is good. The main reason why I bought this camera is the weight. Unfortunately if lack the remote wireless flash trigger and stereo microphone.

Canon EOS 100D Digital SLR is a Smart Choice

The Canon EOS 100D is an excellent DSLR that presents an interesting alternative to CSCs in terms of specification and size, as well as fitting in well with Canon's entry-level DSLR selection.

Good design including rubberised handgrip Creative filters feature live preview Strikingly small body

Similar price to the Canon EOS 700D AF system only features one cross-type point Small design means small battery
