Canon EOS 100D DSLR Review

The Canon EOS 100D is the smallest DSLR available with an optical viewfinder, and appears to be Canons answer to DSLR-style mirrorless cameras, being roughly the same size as the Micro Four Thirds Panasonic Lumix G6 , as well as roughly the same price, although the G6 features a swivelling touch...
Pros:
  • Excellent image quality
  • Excellent colour
  • Excellent noise performance
  • Very good build quality and design
  • Optical viewfinder
  • Q-button gives quick access
  • Smallest DSLR available
  • Great touchscreen
  • Improved live view focus speeds
Cons:
  • Relatively high price
  • Relatively large lenses
  • RAW not available in some modes
  • 4-way controller could be better implemented
  • Shorter battery life (due to reduced size battery
  • Lacks panoramic mode
  • Wi-Fi would have been nice

Canon EOS 100D review

The compact proportions of the 18 megapixel Canon EOS 100D and its relatively lightweight feel make it an ideal holiday camera, for when you want that DSLR quality, while the smaller size also makes it less intimidating for human subjects, resulting in shots that feel less 'forced'.
Pros:
  • Compact body
  • Lightweight
  • Good image quality
Cons:
  • No tilting LCD
  • Indoors shots can be soft
  • Not much cheaper than 700D

Canon EOS 100D review

A good and compact Canon SLR, but at current prices it's overshadowed by its 700D sibling

Canon EOS 100D review: The smallest and lightest digital SLR in the world matches the big boys in picture quality

The 18-megapixel EOS 100D is the literally smaller brother to the 700D sitting at the summit of Canon's APS-C sensor incorporating DSLR range. Indeed, the sales pitch for the 100D is that it is the world's smallest and lightest DSLR at the time of writing.
Pros:
  • Smaller and lighter build makes carrying DSLR body and lens less of a drag
  • yet more compact proportions haven't obviously compromised picture quality
Cons:
  • The lighter construction results in more obvious camera shake in lower light
  • no angle adjustable LCD plus a smaller handgrip than the 700D which costs just 50 quid more

Very good compact DSLR

It is a very good compact DSLR. Image quality also is good. The main reason why I bought this camera is the weight. Unfortunately if lack the remote wireless flash trigger and stereo microphone.

Canon EOS 100D review

Nearly a hit, but the 100D's small stature doesn't quite make up for its stripped-back features
Pros:
  • Small
  • light body
  • Live View performance
  • Great picture quality
Cons:
  • No flip-out screen
  • Stripped-back controls
  • The 700D does more

The Canon EOS 100D certainly offers an interesting proposition for anyone looking to purchase their first D-SLR; or indeed for Canon D-SLR owners who are looking to invest in a lightweight back-up to their everyday camera.

Canon EOS Rebel SL1

Canon bills the EOS Rebel SL1 ($649.99 list, body only) as the world's smallest digital SLR. There's no arguing about that; it's impressively small, making Canon's standard 18-55mm zoom lens look positively huge in comparison.
Pros:
  • Compact design
  • Touch screen
  • Quick to start and focus
  • 4fps continuous shooting
  • Smooth live view focus experience
  • Microphone input
  • Good high ISO performance
Cons:
  • Limited Raw burst shooting
  • Pentamirror viewfinder
  • Fixed rear LCD
  • May be too small for some hands
