The much Better Option!

If you are going to buy your first Canon DSLR like the 1100D, 550D or even the 60D then do opt for the better kit lens, that is the Canon 18-135. Why? Well you will outgrow the 18-55 soon. Optically this one is far better than the 18-55 kit and you will have this on your camera for a longer time.

Nice Product

It?s a simple prime lens and takes pictures with astonishing clarity. It?s one of those lenses that almost all professional photographers have in their kit. This lens is worth the price. Pics are coming out with very good image quality compared to the standard kit lenses.

Good Starter lens

This lens has a good focal range but with a constant vignetting problem. The auto focus works well in daylight, however searches too much in less adequate outdoor and indoor lighting situations. The lens is built well despite the other issues and would make a good starter lens.

Good focal range; quick image stabilization; Sharp images

Slow Auto-Focus; Vignetting

Good Kit Lens

Bought the latest Canon 18-135 Nano USM lens to replace the original 18-55 on my 550D. Also wanted to be able to use the lens for video work with a power zoom. This lens fits the bill perfectly.

Amazing price through Pixmania and came with an unexpected lens hood

Canon EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM

The new Canon EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM offers an appealing combination of a versatile 7.5x zoom range, fast and silent auto-focusing, good enough image quality and construction, and decent value for money. Image quality is pretty good rather than outstanding.

Canon EF-S 18-135mm f3.5-5.6 IS

Canons EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS is the company's new kit lens for up-market bodies, or those wanting to upgrade from the basic EF-S 18-55mm IS to something longer without breaking the bank.

Flexible 7.5x range zooms 2.5x closer than basic kit lens; Effective Stabilisation with 3 stops in our tests; Metal lens mount and non-rotating filter mount; Affordable step-up from basic kit lens

Soft in extreme corners; especially at larger apertures; Noticeable vignetting and geometric distortion; Loud AF motor; and MF ring rotates during AF; Some creep between 20 and 85mm (actual)

Nice lens a step above standard kit lens

I purchased the 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS around 12 months ago in time for a family trip to the USA as a step up from the standard 18-55mm lens. The appeal was the greater zoom range and I figured it would be a great walkabout lens.

Easy to use

Poor build quality

Canon EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS

The Canon EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS is an older lens that lacks STM focusing capability, but is still a step up from your D-SLR's standard kit lens.

Very sharp; Long zoom range; Optically stabilized

Lacks STM capability; Some distortion
