excellent carry-around lens
The lens appears brand new and I assume it is, but it was not in Canon packaging, so appears to be a 'gray-market' lens. That also accounts for why its price was significantly less than is commonly listed for this lens.

Canon 15-85mm
Having a much higher optical quality than its predecessor (17-55mm) the Canon EF-S 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM Lens is an excellent all purpose lens that will be perfect for the APS-C (crop) sensor camera.range. Ideal for landscapes, street photography, portraits etc.

Canon EF-S 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM
I have had this lens for one and a half years, and it has been a nice mate for my camera. It is great: very sharp from 15 to 85 mm (although not so much in the corners at its widest aperture), very good at f11 for landscape photography.
Pros:
- Sharp
- quick focus
- good range
Cons:
- Non constant aperture: f5.6 is a bit slow

Great Lens, Fantastic Build Quality
I was looking for a lens with a slightly more reach than the stock 18-55mm that came with the T5i; I mainly was looking for a nice walk-about lens that could handle the majority of situations.

best carry around lens for canon
Bought this to replace my 18-55mm kit lens for my canon 550d... awesome diwali offer from flipkart and got it at 12000 rs off for 46k. This is a near L quality carry around lens for canon crop sensors, covers a good range even at the wider end, awesome focussing with USM motor and ful time manual...

Very Good Choice for crop
I purchased this lens 4 years ago, when I first got started on DSLR photography. At the time I did not fully appreciate the lenses options and abilities. Now that I am more experienced all I can say is that this lens provides overall excellent image quali

Good but not Great
I've had the lens for 3 weeks and run a few tests. I've determined that the lens doesn't perform any better in low light then the Canon 18-135mm. In normal light the photos are sharper but the difference wasn't as significant as I expected when viewed at less then 100%.
Pros:
- Durable
- Easily Interchangeable
- Full Time Manual Focus
- Nice Bokeh
- Strong Construction
Cons:
- Poor in Low Light

Canon EF-S 15-85mm f3.5-5.6 IS USM
It's not easy deciding on the best lenses to get for your EOS SLR, and Canon's just made it that much harder. This brand new 15-85mm is a high-spec, high-quality ‘standard' zoom for EF-S format Canons – they're the ones which aren't full-frame, and include the EOS 1000D, 450D, 500D, 50D and the new...

Canon EF-S 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM review by rdonson
I picked up this lens as a walk-around lens for my Canon 7D. As such it has fit the bill very nicely. IQ has been very good for my use as a walk-around lens. Construction isn't up to L glass but for the money its more than acceptable.
Pros:
- focal length range
- IS
- size
Cons:
- a little heavier than I thought it would be
