Excellent lens! I had been looking for a wide angle lens for awhile. I debated between this lends and a Sigma lens which was a little less expensive, but, decided to buy this. I am glad I spent the extra cash. The colors are excellent and images are sharp.

I use the 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM mainly for waterfalls and small cascades in the mountains of the south east US. With a APS-C camera sensor this focal length is superb. While there is some distortion at the 10mm end for my purposes it is not objectionable.

I purchased my first 10-22mm in late 2005, soon after it was released. I fell in love with it as finding a wide angle for the 20D was next to impossible. It's not perfect, but it is well built and does its job.
I shoot this thing at 10mm all the time and most of the time i really like the images. It is not L quality but the UD lens does cut down on flare. I have had no issues with that. I have used in in many extreme environments and still works great. Must be attributed to the rear focusing system.

The lens has a very fast and near silent ring-type USM (ultrasonic) AF drive which provides full-time manual focusing in one-shot AF mode. The AF accuracy was spot on during the tests.
I really do love the range of this lens and sharpness is pretty nice. I just cannot get over how horrible the chromatic aberration is. Even with advanced post-production it is still evident.
