Great Lens
I took this lens with me to the zoo. Took photos and video with it. Fantastic output. I read a ton of reviews and was reluctant to buy it. Lot of reviews stating blurry focus and bad bokeh. You have to know how to adjust the settings for this lens. My photos came out sharp.
Pros:
- Consistent Output
- Fast / accurate auto-focus
- Strong Construction
Cons:
- Heavy
- Lens Creep

Fun with Photos
We went to the Morton Arboretum near Chicago and "played" with the new lens. We are thrilled with it. First time out and we can't be happier, except for the weight and our own inexperience, the lens performed admirably. We also want to say that it is good for both outdoors and portrait shots.
Pros:
- Consistent Output
- Easily Interchangeable
- Rugged
- Strong Construction
Cons:
- Blurry Focus
- Heavy
- Slow Focus

Purchased 70-300L for use on my 7D for daylight field sports, and most importantly, to carry while when traveling. Processed (in Lightroom & NIK Suite) images from the 7D + 70-300L compare very favorably with those from my 5D MkII + 70-200L MkII.
Pros:
- Compact
- Light weight
- Fast auto focus (with both full and panning modes)
- Full time manual focus
- Very sharp images
- Responds well to micro focus adjustment
Cons:
- Cost, but then again it has 'L' build quality and performance
- Lens collar is both expensive and (currently) unavailable

Great glass!!
It is not my primary lens, and that is why it only got a 4star (my favourite lenses are always shorter - 50mm for example) but it still great glass. It does get a little heavy for continuous shooting, especially with the heavier camera bodies, but is perfect to shoot people with from a distance at...
Pros:
- Consistent Output
- Durable
- Easily Interchangeable
- Easy to get the hang of
- Nice Bokeh
- Strong Construction
Cons:
- Challenge to spot subject
- Heavy

Canon EF 70-300mm f4-5.6 IS USM
Canon's 70-300mm f4-5.6 IS USM lens is a step up from the average telephoto zoom. Canon also makes a much cheaper 75-300mm, but the lens tested here is designed for photographers looking for a step up in both build and picture quality – and this lens has an image stabiliser.

Nice lens
This lens has an auto and manual setting for focus adjustments and the adjustments give a good blur effect to the image, very nice lens indeed, very good to have this.
