A revelation

Having used a 18-200mm kit lens I was unprepared for the difference that F1.8 makes. Amazing value for money and an ideal "first lens" to buy after having a kit lens.

Easy to use; Compact

Awesome portrait lens for beginners

I checked this lens out after an online tutorial recommended it. What a great value! A no-brainer for beginners and hobbyists. This lens takes sharp portraits. If you're a pro, you might want something fancier, but for the rest of us it's totally worth the price.

Affordable; sharp photos; nice bokeh

Might feel cheap to a pro

I wish I had just bought the 1.4

My 85mm is the main lens I use, and it is amazing in low light situations. This 50mm doesn't even compare. I should have just spent the extra money for the 1.4. On the positive side, it is very light weight.

Good Cheap Lens

This lens should be in every photographers bag, whether serious or hobbyist. Great lens and for the price, you cannot beat it. One thing tho is the build is very "Plastic Like" but for the price you should not expect it to be built like an L lens.

Consistent Output; Easily Interchangeable; Fast / accurate auto-focus

Weak Casing

You get what you pay for

It's not a bad lens, especially considering that it costs just about a C-Note. It looks good and delivers some solid shots. However handle this thing like it was an egg. The first one I had, the front just popped off in my camera bag. The second?

cheap; Lightweight

Cheap plastic; Flimsy; Weak Casing

Canon EF 50mm f/1.8

With a f/1.8 it is great in low light situations. This would be a great lens for anyone wanting to get into photography on a budget and looking to take some great pictures and learn on. Don't forget to order a UV filter.

Ok for it's low price, this is a great lens; Takes good clear pictures up close and just snapshots around the house; Works good for still life photos and portraits

None that I can see so far; and I am putting it through the paces here

Plastic fantastic

Name says it all. For what it is it's great. It's cheap, it's sharp and does the job. Yes it feels like a toy, it's noisy, it has a small focus ring which you can barely use, but look at the price and great images it produces.

I seriously doubt it's a Canon genuine product. Cos, it doesn't have a Image stabilization. It's not Gud to buy. Pls go to Canon showroom and buy.
