Surprisingly, I've kinda fallen in love with this lens!
Surprisingly, I've kinda fallen in love with this lens! My wife got it for me a year ago and I like to wait a while before submitting a review on this type of thing...so here we are. Yes, this lens has been around a LONG TIME (20 years or so), Obviously for good reason....it very good!

love this lens. does what its meant to - capture beautiful images but there is specs of dust inside it which shows up in the final image. I ordered this lens to film a wedding, throughout the whole video you can see these specs.

Canon EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Macro USM Review
There's a lot packed into this compact lens, starting with a generous 4.8x zoom range that covers the entire gamut of frequently-used focal lengths for full-frame photography.
Pros:
- Great all-rounder
Cons:
- Cheeky "macro" designation

Canon EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Macro USM Review
The AF mechanism is internal and employs an efficient (USM) that leaves the focusing ring undisturbed in automatic mode but with the option of full-time manual focusing intervention if this is required.
Pros:
- Great all-rounder
Cons:
- Cheeky "macro" designation

Canon EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM
This is the best walkaround/travel lens for fullframe users. I prefer this than the more expensive 24-105L. Yes, the L-series will give you (slightly) better results, but for more money and weight (duh). I love this lens because of the portability.
Pros:
- price
- focal range
- IS
- light
Cons:
- none

Great !!
I am stunned at the image quality this lens has produced for me. Action shots are crystal clear thanks to IS which is extremely quiet compared to my other Canon lenses. And indoor shots without a flash are a breeze, thanks to the 3.5 aperture and IS.
Pros:
- IS
- USM
- PERFECT FOR EVERY DAY USE
- GREAT PICTURES INDOORS AND OUT
Cons:
- NOT WIDE ENOUGH FOR WIDE ANGLE SHOTS ON 1.6 DIGITAL CAMERAS

good lens, but too long for a half-frame body
I own a Canon Rebel XTi an entry-level SLR and I purchased this lens hoping I can use it as an all around lens, but I quickly realized this is probably not going to be so. If you, like me, own a half-frame camera, you will probably want to consider getting an additional lens to cover the wide-angle...

Canon EF 28-135mm lens
Though not the image quality desired for PRO use, this lens is very capable for the hobbyist. Close work with average to good lighting has resulted in some clear quality images with my Canon 40D. I was not as pleased with the far range as the focus seems soft.
Pros:
- Consistent Output
- Easily Interchangeable
- Good amature lens
- Lightweight
- Quick Focus
Cons:
- Not weatherdust sealed
- Soft focus at far range
