So glad a bought it!

Wow! Amazing lens! I thought long and hard before deciding to buy this lens due to its high price but I'm glad I finally bought it. It's razor sharp and the AF focus is deadly accurate. I was a little concerned about the weight but it's not as heavy as I thought. I highly recommend this lens!

AF is deadly accurate; razor sharp; great bokeh

Only missing image stabilization...

Such a great lens to shoot with, however my ONLY CON is that 3rd party manufacturers are including image stabilization. Wish I could only give 3.5 stars for this reason. Image quality is 5 stars, features are 3.5. For the price Canon, we would like you to meet what the underdogs have achieved.

Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM

The Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM ($2,299) is the workhorse lens for many a Canon shooter. With a constant f/2.8 aperture throughout its zoom range, very good optical performance, and a fairly compact design, the lens pairs well with full-frame Canon cameras .

Sharp throughout zoom range; Constant f/2.8 aperture; Fairly compact

Pricey; Not stabilized; Some distortion; Telescoping design

Best In Its Class (Top Of The Line Service By B&H)

What can I say about the best 24-70mm 2.8 lens ever made Well for starters it has twoasphericalelements, one superUDand twoasphericalelements. This work horse is tightly weather sealed, nicely built, a well made all around lens; Ive had the Canon 28-70 & the 24-70 2.8L ( 1 ) which btw both have a...

I use the lens on my 5d MkIII and there is a noticeable difference between it and my Tamron equivalent that I'd been using for 3 years. The Tamron 24x70 has stabilization and I still get better results with this Canon lens in comparison.

Superb Sharp and quick

I owned the 1st 24-70 f/2.8, I believe I had a softer sample as they had quite a range of variation in them, however this version is loads better. It is almost as sharp as my macro, even wide open, which is unheard of for a zoom.

Sharp; Fast AF; Excellent General purpose and portrait lens; weather resistant

Price; though its worth it in my opinion; filter size makes for expensive filters

Very sharp

I have been using this lens now for six months and it's been producing very sharp photos across the frame even at f/2.8 . AF speed is fast and accurate with out fail. The slight drawback this lens is expensive and has no image stabilization.

Easy to use; Compact

Stout & sharp

Stunning detail and as sharp as my 16-35 f4 IS USM. Good for portraits with wide f2.8 aperture, so get out of focus background. I'll probably miss it not having IS as I like to push the limits - just need to remind myself of the old days, before IS.

More Canon Goodness

I suppose the IS is not needed in a wider lens due to the focal length, but I can see it being useful at 70mm.

Typical canon sharpness build quality and reliability; I have all canon glass and this purchase recently is one of the few lenses I didnt have to bridge the gap between the ultra wide and the super long stuff

No IS
