Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS II USM Lens Review
Everyone loves the 24-105mm f/4L IS version I lens. At least it seems that way. This lens has been a significant part of a very high number of amateur, enthusiast and professional kits.

The Canon 24-105mm f4 L IS USM II is a fine lens in so many ways. It's gotten a lot of updates and improvements on its build quality and with all of the issues that were present with the first version of the lens. For many Canon photographers, you'll be happy with the output.

Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS II USM Review (Review Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS II USM)
The EF 24-105mm f/4L IS II USM improves upon the first version of the lens, but isn't the best 24-105mm available for the Canon system.
Pros:
- Constant f/4 aperture., 4.4x zoom range., Minimal vignette., Optical image stabilization., 1:4.3 macro magnification., Solid construction., Fluorine coating.
Cons:
- Sharpness suffers at telephoto focal lengths., Visible distortion.

Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS II USM
The Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS II USM is a solid upgrade to its predecessor, a lens with some flaws that prevented us from enthusiastically recommending it when we reviewed it. It delivers sharper results with less distortion, but still suffers from a loss of sharpness when zoomed.
Pros:
- Constant f/4 aperture
- 4.4x zoom range
- Minimal vignette
- Optical image stabilization
- 1:4.3 macro magnification
- Solid construction
- Fluorine coating
Cons:

Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS II USM
When Canon announced the EOS 5D Mark IV last year, it arrived on the scene at the same time as two new full-frame optics: the EF 16-35mm f/2.8L III USM, and the revamped EF 24-105mm f/4L IS II USM. Both lenses play a key role in Canon's EF full-frame lineup.
Pros:
- Effective four-stop image-stabilisation system
- Controls vignetting better than before
- Suitable for a wide variety of applications
Cons:
- Costs a significant sum of money to upgrade
- Not the big improvement in sharpness that you might expect

I bought this three years ago and thought the images were soft but never really tested until today. With a 5D Mk IV on a tripod I zoomed the lens out and made sure the range was such that there was a narrow depth-of-field so I could check front-focus or back-focus issues (which is what I expectex).
