Damn fine service

Hey thanks guys. We are a private New Zealand newspaper group and have just bought a lens for our photographers from Smifu. Yes we were nervous and did as much checking as we could before paying. Guess what? All went well.

To Josh

"I would disagree with Josh. You can't compare 17-40mm lens to 14-24mm lens and rate them. You are comparing apples and oranges. 17-40mm L is a great glass for its value."

Very sharp.

Using a test chart, I found the lens to be very sharp across the image at all focal lengths. The included picture is typical of my results and is a small part of the image from a Canon 5D Mark-II.

The lens quickly snaps into focus and produces good closeups at the 40 mm setting.
Pros:
 • Fast / accurate auto-focus
 • Lightweight
 • Sharp at all focal length
Cons:
 • Barrel distortion

Pros- Build quality, sharpness, generally excellent image quality, relatively light weight Cons-none yet in my experience All my reviews

I bought this lens for my crop sensor 50D, as i wanted a 'semi-wide' angle lens for landscapes and general photography. The build quality is typical L-series (i.e. fantastic) and the lens balances well on the 50D's body.

EXCELLENT LENS, SHARP AND VIIVID PICTURES

This is a handsdown highly recommended lens if you guys are looking for upgrade. I am using Canon 60D cropped lens, I was deciding in either getting the 15-85mm standard lens or the Canon L 14-70mm "L" Lens.
Pros:
 • CANON "L" MEANS LUXURY BUT AFFORDABLE PRICE
Cons:
 • NOTHING

The best ultra wide angle for Canon!

I recently switched from Nikon to Canon and this was my first lens purchased for my 5D Mark II. My decision was made after reading several reviews from websites and blogs. I have to tell you they are all right! This lens takes sharp and vibrant pictures. Good bokeh too, though not the best.

Allot of lens for the money!

I am very satisfied with the quality of all of my Canon "L" lenses, the EF 17-40mm F/4.0 is no exception. I was looking for a wide angle zoom and thought I would rather have the F/2.8 but the price was a factor so I decided to go withe the slower F4.0.
