this is a great lense with very clear optics.
good optics
a bit heavy
I upgraded to IS version of this lens, and its so easier to take pics now, big difference.. Bout this one for 479 one year ego..
Its a nice lens; pretty sharp.
had to use manual focus to get sharp images
The Canon 100mm f/2.8 macro is an amazing lens. As a regular lens, it excels. The 100mm length is great for portraits and as a telephoto, although it gets a bit long on the crop sensor consumer cameras where it equals a 160mm.
I have had this lens for several months now. I work as a semi pro freelance photographer and use generally L' lenses. I have to say that I have been pleasantly surprised with this macro lens and use it with extension tubes. A brilliant lens with great results
I bought this for my partner's birthday, after he told me that he wanted a prime lens. I researched canon prime lenses on the canon website, and saw this one listed as a prime lens.
A big cons is the lack of IS but not for macro work, for portraits. Only for macro is just perfect.
excellent IQ
some focus hunting in low light
Very sharp images, very good for product photography.
Great sharp images
No image stabliser Need a tripod
This is one lump of a lens, I could not make my mind up between this lens and the L version, but the extra expense just for IS just ain't worth it, you can use it by hand if you can hold it steady, but most of the time it will be on a tripod.
