If you want to jump into macro photography making compromise in image quality, this lens is the perfect choice, here is why: - Very good image quality, L rated. - Nice build quality. - A joy to use the very large focusing ring. - Pretty good for portrait too.
- A bargain
- sharp image
- build quality
- large and nice focusing ring
- maybe a bit heavy
Great lens
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend- Fast / accurate auto-focus
High Price
I am considering buying this lens and you can buy this lens all day long from other well known retailers for $599.99. I was hoping these people here would be at least the same as these other retailers maybe even cheaper but as we can see they are alot higher not only on this lens but I've noticed...
Good quality for the price
I'm in a Master's course and this lens is so good I've been able to put off buying the really high priced version while.Does great in lower lighting which was my main concern.- Easy To Set Up
- Easy To Use
Its all right..
I upgraded to IS version of this lens, and its so easier to take pics now, big difference.. Bout this one for 479 one year ego..- Its a nice lens
- pretty sharp.
- had to use manual focus to get sharp images
The Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 USM Macro Lens is a very good choice for macro photography of butterflies, insects or flowers. It offers excellent optical performance and middle-of-the-road working distance, size and weight.
- 1
- Fast Focusing - Utilizing USM (Ultrasonic Motor), the Canon 100 Macro internally focuses very fast, quietly and very accurately, 2
- Non-Extending or Rotating - When focusing at 1x subject distances, the lens does not extend, and the front element does not rotate, 3.
- 1
- Build quality - this USM Macro lens has a reasonable build quality although it's not quite as solid as the L-Series lenses, 2
- Image Stabilization - this lens does not feature the image stabilization present with the significantly more expensive Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 L IS USM Macro Lens
Great Lens.
This is my first macro lens. The choice was between the Canon 60mm 2.8 macro or this one. After much research and a sale price drop of $80 from OneCall, I chose this one. The sale price put the new price from OneCall in an acceptable range with an used one. I am glad I chose this one.- Consistent Output
- Durable
- Easily Interchangeable
lens is as sharp as canon says,
I had earlier problems with focus, but now my biggest gripe is no lens hood supplied, and Canons tripod ring mountfor this lens, is far dearer than other brands ([*]I`d expect). I have one of these and it works very well, cost me all of $11.00 australian. from Hong Kong of course.- Durable
- Nice Bokeh
- Strong Construction
- Lens Creep
- Poor in Low Light
Macro opens up a new world
Exellent value for great macro ability and portrait work. Canon delivers with this lens.- Sharp images
- great depth of field and bokeh
- The lens is heavy and kind of long
- No image stabilization
Great Value for Money
I required two lenses: a macro and a long portrait lens. I did not have the budget for both but have been blown away by the quality of this lens in both areas for a very modest price.- Super-sharp images
- Slow auto-focus
