Good quality for the price
I'm in a Master's course and this lens is so good I've been able to put off buying the really high priced version while.Does great in lower lighting which was my main concern.- Easy To Set Up
- Easy To Use
High Price
I am considering buying this lens and you can buy this lens all day long from other well known retailers for $599.99. I was hoping these people here would be at least the same as these other retailers maybe even cheaper but as we can see they are alot higher not only on this lens but I've noticed...
If you want to jump into macro photography making compromise in image quality, this lens is the perfect choice, here is why: - Very good image quality, L rated. - Nice build quality. - A joy to use the very large focusing ring. - Pretty good for portrait too.
- A bargain
- sharp image
- build quality
- large and nice focusing ring
- maybe a bit heavy
Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 USM Macro review
The Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 USM Macro is one of two new 100mm macro lenses in Canon's range, the other being the more expensive L-series optic, the CanonEF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM, which has the advantage of a new Hybrid IS system.

Overall an excellent lens.
This is one of the best lenses I have. No vignetting even on FF cameras. It is sharp straight from 2.8 onward, and reaches its peak at f/8. Settings above f/11 kick in some diffraction. There are no distortions or CA I can complain of. Highly recommended!
Very good
This lens is at a very good price here and the delivery that I got was very nice, It was well protected and the lens came in the best quality, I am happy with my purchase.
Good lens for the money
This is a pretty decent lens for the money. I wasn't sure how much I'd use it so price was important to me. So far so good. Easy to use, lightweight, sharp. I'd recommend it to anyone who doesn't want to break the bank but wants a good macro lens.- Lightweight
Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro USM
A big cons is the lack of IS but not for macro work, for portraits. Only for macro is just perfect.- excellent IQ
- some focus hunting in low light
Excellent lens
I use this with my 40D (cropped sensor) and have had excellent results. Sharpness and colour are exceptional. The macro function can be difficult and takes time to learn how to use effectively due to the shallow depth of field and exaggerated camera movement.
