This is a solid, high-quality lens that definitely deserves the "L" series designation from Canon. The auto focus system is very fast and very quiet. The added bonus of image stabilization makes this lens much more versatile as a general 100mm prime aside from its macro abilities.- Light weight

This is my first L lens...construction is great. compared to my 17-55 where the zoom ring rocks...the focus ring on the 100mm macro is rock solid. I've only tried hand-held macro shots and they've turned out very well.- sharp

Stellar Lens from Canon
People who check out this lens need no introduction about the lens. Its one of the best lenses from Canon stable. Absolutely awesome. This is a macro lens with 1:1 magnification. Maximum aperture being f2.8. Has a 4 stop IS. I bought this lens after comparing it with the non L lens.
