I bought this lens after owning the pre version 100 2.8 USM - and also the 50 2.5 the EF-S 60 2.8 and the 180 mm Macro I was happy with the old one but man what a different in the new IS version - before i should always use flash but the integration of IS in this model makes is possible to handheld

Lovely lens!
I don't own this lens, but wish I did! I borrowed it from a friend for over a month and took one thousand shots with it. It's my ultimate macro lens - very sharp, good focal length and the colours have a special quality about them that really pop.
Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS lens
Very impressed. I've wanted this lens for a long time. Grays' price was $500 cheaper than retail in Australia. Delivery from Hong Kong took less than a week. Grays give a 12 month replacement/refund warranty. Can't ask for better.

If you're on a strict budget, then the non L is a steal, but the L version is the better lens- IS works really well
