With light and compact design is a small lens that gives amazing ease of use. It is extremely comfortable to carry around and use whenever required on the move.

I enjoy photographing details and portraits at weddings with this lens. Focus is snappy and images are great. We probably use it 50/50 for indoor portraits, versus non-human subjects. The bokeh is not smooth like an 85L but it's slightly busy look is distinctive. Two negatives.- Great image quality wide open
- Fast and accurate AF in decent light

- AF hunts in marginal conditions, even on a 5D4
- Image stabilization mechanism "rattles" if you don't switch it off before removing from camera

Lens Addiction It's a real thing. It's practically Freudian: Who has the biggest one? Boys and their pee-pee measuring eh? Yes, the 100mm is an impressive spectacle isn't it? Excellent macro lens with IS
Although I already own the Canon EF180mm f/3.5L macro lens, I decided to go ahead and purchase this additional macro lens, primarily because of its lightweight construction, fast aperture and image stabilistion. I am so pleased with this lens.- Consistent Output

Back in July 2009, Canon announced a new ‘hybrid' image stabilisation system designed for macro photography. Able to compensate for both the standard angular movement and the small shifts in the angle at which the lens is pointed during hand-held shooting.
Excellent lens All my reviews
This is my first 'L' lens and was not disappointed. The lens is brilliant with quick auto focus (although I tend to use manual focus a lot of the time) and super sharp images. Wish I could afford to upgrade all my lenses to 'L's'. Highly recommended.

It's rare to find a macro lens that doesn't perform admirably during a lens test and so I wasn't surprised that the EF 100mm f/2.8L IS USM performed almost flawlessly. It's a well-built lens with weather sealing to boot.
