One of the best zoo/wildlife/travel lenses!!
I've owned this lens since it was released... two years ago. Firstly, don't confuse it with it's predecessor, the mark 1. The mark I was one of the most controversial lenses, where people either loved it or hated it.

Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II USM Lens - Brand New review
It stands out to us because of the New Air Sphere Coating (ASC) that is used in its manufacturing. Basically, what it does is that it coats the lenses and makes sure that the chromatic aberrations that cause back lighting of flares or ghosting effects are minimized.
