Canon 100-400mm f4.5-5.6L IS II USM is a Variable aperture Auto Focus (AF) Super Telephoto Zoom lens with Optical Image stabilization and 35mm FF max sensor coverage, and it is designed to be used with EF Mount cameras. Canon replaced the older Canon EF 100-400mm f4.5-5.6L IS USM with this model.

I made a series of interferometric measurements showing the lens being diffraction limited at all focal lengths, AND with Kanko 1,4x TC. I am astrophotographer and point light sources are any lenses nightmare. This lens performs up to the fullframe corner.
Pros:
- inredibly sharp at all focal lengths, very good color correction
- The best lens I ever saw

- a little heavy to carry all day

Can't beat the L quality lens I am using this lens with 7D giving me effect range of 160-640, the 3 modes of IS and very good close focusing (almost like macro lens) has made lens my favorite. The quality of pictures especially sharpness is simply superb!

This is a very good lens. I had tried the old 100-400 F5.6 zoom and this new one is a different quality producing much sharper images and the auto-focus is also much faster and more precise. I also own the 400mm F5.6 fixed lens and both are very close sharpness at F5.6.

Sports Photographer
This is my second 100-400 lens. I absolutely love the new version even more than the previous one I bought about about 15 years ago. This is my go-to lens for sports photography. I can use it sitting in the stands and I always get great shots.

Canon EF lenses are the best. This particular lens has great stability, lets in so much light and is light weight compared to the previous version.

Amazing lens
Awesome lens, takes amazing pictures from a distance. I can see into my neighbors window brilliantly with this lens. Yes it's heavy, but it's supposed to be, that's why it comes with a collar ring.
