Very good scanner

This is a really nice scanner - LED, instant on, no power cable (since it's USB powered), fast, and 35mm film attachment included (which is a mini-scanner on its own). I was a bit disappointed to learn that the 9600 dpi only apply to the film scanner (otherwise it has 4800x4800 dpi), but as long as...

Can't say enough good!

This scanner not only does what it says it will, it does it quickly! I use Windows 7 and the Windows drivers manage this device perfectly. After going in to devices and setting up a profile (by adjusting my scan settings to what I wanted, scanning, then saying "default" to last scan", I'm well on my...

CANOSCAN LIDE 700F CLR FB 9600X9600DPI 48BIT LTR NEG USB

If I had more familiarity with the issues I would have shopped around to c out ease of use. I do like the high resolution.

images are very good, very sharp; Software is okay, pretty good for peripheral software; Way better than nikon or hewlett-packard software which was awful

scanning film is laborious; Delicately placing the film, delicately positioning the scanning gadget, which has a too stiff, too short of a cord, delicately closing the lid, it all makes me feel like i have two left hands.

A great scanner that works efficiently

The problem I have always had in the past with regard to scanners is the poor quality images they tend to convey, and the lengthy scanning time. What I wanted from my new scanner, thus, was a combination of high resolution images and a prompt scanning period.

Opt for the non-LiDE if you can

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Can be placed on its side

Bad software; Dead slow; Slow Print Time

I am on a MacBook Pro using OS 10.6.2 Snow Leopard. I purchased this scanner on Overstock in Mar 2010. It was incredibly easy to set up and to use. Here's what I did: Plugged in the scanner using the provided USB cable; Put a picture on the scanner; Launched Image Capture, the scanning software...

Canon CanoScan LiDE 700F

Canon's LiDE scanners are all small, light, and easy to set up and use. Even better, despite all being flatbeds (so far), their small size lets you treat them as portable, at least to the extent that you can take them with you fairly easily when you need to.

Reasonably capable for photographic prints; Backlight correction and color restore features in driver

Film scan doesn't work for slides; Scans only one frame of film at a time; Film scanning is extremely cumbersome

Canon Canoscan LiDE 700F scanner

Standalone scanners have dropped in popularity since the all-conquering multi-function device came along, but there's still a market for scanners. The LiDE 700F, the latest flatbed scanner from Canon, is a compact device with loads of features.

Great image quality; compact; fantastic driver software

Average OCR and dust and scratch removal performance

Canon Lide 700F

Excellent product and good value. I bought it to replace an ageing HP Scanjet which never fully functioned with XP. This is simplicity to install and does away with the need for a separate power supply. Mainly used for copying and creating pdf's in small business.
