Call of Juarez

Ever since Lucasarts' extraordinary game called Outlaws, the first person shooter market set in the Wild Wild West has been rather dull and lacklustre. Sure, there have been a few entertaining games since then but nothing really captured that wild feeling about this era... until now!

Call of Juarez PC Review

Westerns. It's not a word many people associate with video games, mainly due to the fact that there have been fewer adaptations of the genre than people who wish the PS3 would cost just a little bit more.

PC Review - 'Call of Juarez'

Genre: First-Person Shooter Publisher: Ubisoft Developer: Techland Release Date: June 12, 2007 It seems somehow appropriate that since the Italians were the ones to reinvent the Western genre with their Spaghetti westerns, that the next genre innovation should also come from Europe.

Games came in a generic box and discs are in paper sleeves if you were expecting colorful manuls or a jewel case you'll be dispointed, but hey 2 games for $8.00 they had to cut cost somewhere

Call of Juarez

Any first person shooter not set in World War 2 or Vietnam wins instant bonus points; in the current climate of "franchise development" a new idea is worth its weight in Gold...

Variety; Beautiful; Great hat physics..

Hard; as nails; made of diamond; from Newcastle; Instant death is never fun; Stealth bits

Buy it but.....

Make sure your PC is up to it first as the graphics can be demanding. Western games are in short supply on the PC so this has little competition (Gun, Dead Man's Hand). It's well written, plays well, decent AI and striking graphics.

Call of Juarez

Developed by Techland, Call of Juarez is a first-person shooter with a western theme. In the game you play the role of Billy Candle, a young adult, raised at the fist of his stepfather just over the border to Mexico, in a town called Hope.

Call of Juarez Review

While Call of Juarez isn't without its flaws, it is still a remarkably enjoyable game.

We know about the genre known as the spaghetti western, but is there such a thing as a pierogi western? There is now, thanks to Polish developer Techland's Call of Juarez. An Old West-themed first-person shooter, Call of Juarez fits snugly into the solid little niche that games like Gun and Red Dead...

Interesting two-character dynamic with varying gameplay styles; shooting is solid; great environmental graphics; largely excellent voice acting and music; multiplayer is good fun

Billy's sections revolve around too much stealth and lousy platforming; character models look strange and zombielike; a bit of a generic feel to much of the game; missing content from the 360 version; notable performance issues on higher resolutions
