Fine game, but weak single player campaign compared to Modern Warfare

This isn't a bad game, but I'm really glad I played the excellent CoD4 Modern Warfare and the outstanding Modern Warfare 2 first, because this one is "OK" at best. I honestly don't think I would have bothered buying Modern Warfare 1+2 games (which turned out to my favorite shooters in years) based...

Great graphics and solid game mechanics; WWII makes for a compelling shooter setting; The creative direction is first-rate, the environments really looks and feel like the places they're supposed to represent

Throwaway narrative full of boderline-stupid Hollywood stereotype characters (this almost gets comical at times) and disjointed missions; First-person gameplay is extremely tedious on the harder settings

Call of Duty: World at War

World at War is a fun rollercoaster ride that is every bit as good as Call of Duty 2 and 3. Unfortunately after the success of Call of Duty 4 it's hard to go back to World War II, even when the game looks and plays this good.

Not Merely Another WWII Shooter

If you are dedicated shooter player, or a fan of the Call of Duty series, then World at War should be in your collection. If you are new to to the realm of FPSs, then I recommend you look elsewhere and too one of the other consoles for your wants.

Call of Duty, the shooter series whose title has become a household name for games, seems to either make or break when they release a new installment; World at War is not just another run-of-the-mill whoop the Axis and win the war with fanfare and cheers shooter.

For games used to the button-pressing of other shooters, transferring to the Wii is a tall order; The largest hassle is the throwing of grenades, when you are required to twist your remote counter-clockwise to switch (for a millisecond) to a smoke grenade.

Don't listen to that review!

Yes this game is fun but it is not suitable for children! Hence the MATURE rating and the INTENSE VIOLENCE, and STRONG LANGUAGE warnings on the back. Don't listen to that other idiots review.

Challenging; Easy to learn; Fun To Play; Good Audio; Graphics; Multiplayer

Too Short; Too Violent

Activision Call of Duty: World at War review

After a brief, but brilliant, journey to the present day with Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, this latest instalment of the long-running shooter series returns to its World War 2 roots.

Call of Duty: World at War

All in all, it's time to dust off the smoke grenades and jump back into the fray.

Different to other first person shooters

all of Duty 5: World War was a game that was significantly hyped up, particularly with the introduction of the new 'Nazi Zombies' game-mode, to be a massive hit; and so it proved.

"Great DLC; "Fast paced Multiplayer gameplay; "New Zombies game-mode; "Fantastic Graphics; "Gripping campaign story

"Colours are dull; "Not as good as COD 4; "MP40 Gun on Multiplayer is too good; "Only 4 Zombies maps; "Campaign is short

"Great style"

Despite many people saying this game pales in comparison to Call of Duty 4, it actually does quite well for itself. I'm not the biggest fan of World War II games but I have to say I enjoyed the way the story was delivered.

bought for my boy

Call of Duty: World at War is a 2008 first-person shooter video game developed by Treyarch and published by Activision Blizzard for PC, PlayStation 3, Wii, and Xbox 360. It is generally considered to be the fifth mainstream game of the Call of Duty series and returns the setting to World War II.
