Worth getting if you like singleplayer but multiplayer is poor.

=== First Thoughts === When I first got this game I was very impressed, installation was easy and it runs well on my PC. I did however not like the fact it's a steam game, most games you buy can be bought in steam or just on disk, Black Ops is on disk but has to be connected to steam making the game...

PC - Call of Duty: Black Ops- By Activision Inc

Overpriced and too short in single player mode. Don't play online so can't judge multiplayer. Also don't care for need to load and use via Stream connection.

[Review] Call of Duty: Black Ops

As another year passes Activision's flagship franchise has it's unsurprising new entry born into the world. Call of Duty: Black Ops – PC Game Review

For gamers, there is something magical about the Call of Duty franchise. It's had its fair share of ups and downs, and has taken us through World War II and the modern day. After the fiasco with Call of Duty star developer Infinity Ward, the franchise was effectively put in the hands of developer...
Pros:
  • Excellent single-player campaign and multiplayer
  • Plenty of fun extras
  • The best Call of Duty yet
Cons:

  • Plot remains convoluted for too long

PC Game

Since the second game in the series, Treyarch and Infinity Ward have alternated development duties for Call of Duty games: Infinity Ward did the excellent first two games as well as Modern Warfare 1 & 2.
Pros:
  • Exciting action
  • Great locations
  • Works best as interactive cinematic experience
  • Multiplayer is a reasonable evolution from Modern Warfare 2
Cons:
  • Just plain awful as a single-player FPS
  • Too short
  • Multiplayer is nothing new
  • More hype than anything else
  • Looking for something truly new in Multiplayer? Forget it

Treyarch's got some big shoes to fill. They're no stranger to the franchise, but the pressure is on them now that they seem to be the primary developers of the series unless Activision somehow revives Infinity Ward with an infusion of talent.

Call of Duty: Black Ops review

The visual dazzle and cinematic set-pieces are let down by bad scripting, glitchy multiplayer and increasingly dull firefights.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Performance Benchmarks: 3D Vision Tested

Turning on 3D Vision effectively halves the frame-per-second performance, since the GPU has to render twice as many frames to make the page-flipped stereoscopic 3D effect. There are frame drop issues inherent in the game and not exclusive in 3D mode, particularly during the in-game cut scenes.
