Game Review: Call of Duty Black Ops 2 [Xbox 360/PS3/PC]

Call of Duty is undeniably the biggest franchise of the current generation, both in sales and sheer amount of entries. With Black Ops 2 we are now on the eighth game of the generation (nine if you count the digital download version of the original), and quite honestly by this point brand fatigue is...

Outstanding value for money; Genuinely engaging storylines; It's fantastic gun porn; plain and simple; Occasional bugs and glitches; You'll definitely find yourself screaming through the TV at everyone during multiplayer

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2

Everything blowing up around you, buildings collapsing, bloodthirsty soldiers rushing at you with machetes, bullets whizzing past your ears, tanks appear over the horizon, choppers flood the skies, RPG fire, grenades exploding in your face, rifles firing in your face, blood gushing in your face,...

Concrete improvements and changes in a long-running FPS franchise; the Strike Force missions are fun and a nice change of pace; and even the story's starting to make sense; the direction is top-notch; the music kicks ass - thank you Trent Reznor and Jack Wall

You know what to expect and that's what you'll get; despite the few innovative components

Call Of Duty: Black Ops 2 – Review (360, PS3)

Developed by Treyarch and published by Activision, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 is the latest first-person-shooter to be released in the Call of Duty franchise. While the original Black Ops and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 have pretty much set a massive benchmark for the franchise… does Black Ops 2...

Call of Duty: Black Ops II

COD is back in black, with surprisingly little flack.

Same great COD multiplayer; surprisingly fleshed out campaign with organic branching options; solid storyline; excellent presentation; Zombies mode still holds some appeal

Same frustrating COD multiplayer; strikeforce missions are infuriatingly awful; enemies are hard to spot in the busy environments; Zombies feels like a step back for the mode

Good version, best of series, number of people playing is to low now.

The game is great, probably best of the COD series. The PC version works well and is almost the same as the XBOX360 version. Only issue is the online community has shrunk to maybe 2000 players at any one time, spread between game modes. It's too small to support a real community.

Xbox 360 - Call of Duty: Black Ops 2

This Call of Duty is very much like previous editions that we have grown to know and love. There are some new gadgets and twists on the functionality of setting classes. Zombies mode still makes me nauseous. Graphics on the Campaign are good.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2

The best online mode since Modern Warfare

The multiplayer maps are fantastic; Pointstreaks fix the emphasis on kills; Incredible online infrastructure; Zombie adventures on a bus

The campaign isn't very good

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2

There is a lot contained within Call of Duty: Black ops 2 and I am glad I bit the bullet and made the purchase. The team at Treyarch definitely feel like they are winning the race in terms of trying to bring innovation to the series compared to the very worn-out Modern Warfare franchise.

Pick 10 Create a Class system in multiplayer mode; No longer losing weapons when you prestige; Futuristic setting and Strikeforce missions show a progression in the franchise

Sometimes feels stale and a retread of previous Call of Duty games; Game engine is starting to look dated

Call of Duty Black Ops II begins in the year 2025 and Special Forces unit members David Mason and his partner Harper have arrived at The Vault, home to retired Sgt Frank Woods, who tells you about this game's major bad guy, Raul Menendez.
