I could see these speakers being a good choice for surface-mounted whole house audio, distributed audio speakers in a commercial setting, or rear speakers in a home theater system. They replace the old Model 100 speakers from Bose, which used a single 4" driver.
I have been in the audio business for the majority of my professional career (mechanical engineer), and I bought these out of curiosity; Balanced sound, good casual presentation, and good for background music.
These speakers use a pair of 2.5" full-range "Twiddler" drivers that have greater excursion than the ones used in the Virtually Invisible cube speakers Bose makes, but ultimately their most noticeable limitation is in the bass range; Bass below 80 Hz is essentially nonexistent.
