Borderlands 2 (Xbox 360) Review

In 2009 2K Games released an unknown IP to the world, and that IP was Borderlands.  It was a game that had been in development since 2007 and there were some major changes about a year prior to the games final release.

Borderlands 2 Review

In an ideal world, a sequel should build on the original, but still create an experience that's new, yet immediately recognisable. It's a fine balancing act that not many sequels or prequels can achieve.

  • Colourful cell-shaded graphics
  • Excellent writing
  • Incredible voice acting
Cons:
  • Lack of a group loot management system
  • Limited avatar customisation options (cosmetic

Borderlands 2: Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep

Just when it was starting to seem like there's only so much you can do to keep Borderlands 2 's brand of shoot-and-loot compelling, Gearbox rolled a 20. Indeed, it's hard to label Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep anything but a labor of love.
Pros:
  • , + Five to seven hours of content
  • widely varied new settings
  • puzzles
  • many fantasy references
Cons:
  • - Few fantasy-themed weapons or skins
  • experience sags somewhat when Tina's silent, ?

Borderlands 2 nearly perfects the blend of shooter and role-playing game (review)

Borderlands 2 is everything fans of the original could have hoped for. No, it doesn't mess with a formula that already proved itself. Instead it supports the framework for a great role-playing game with a bigger world, while offering more customization options for its players.
Pros:
  • Borderlands 2 is a huge game
  • Completing the story while doing only a fraction of the side quests takes about 30 hours
  • Now, add to that all of those extra missions, and you have an even longer experience.
Cons:
  • While plenty of Borderlands 2's side quests send you to interesting and new locations, too many require you to transverse large dungeons that you've already cleared
  • These levels are fun the first time, but it's annoying and tedious to play through them again, with little (sometimes very little)...

Borderlands 2 Review

It's always awesome to see the growth of a brand beyond "risk" to utterly "backable". This is the case with Gearbox Software's Borderlands IP, a game that sprung up out of nowhere and pitched the ludicrous idea of marrying RPGs (and a bit of the MMORPG) with first-person shooters.

Borderlands 2

Borderlands 2 deserves at least a nomination for Game of the Year 2012. First, let's get one thing out of the way. It's a lot-an awful lot-like the first game. The overall gameplay, character synergy, loot system, controls, and humor are nigh identical. Nighdentical.
Pros:
  • 87 billion guns mean the way you play the game is constantly changing
  • An improved story and even more over-the-top characters and jokes
  • Tailored to a rich
  • rewarding multiplayer experience that's entirely unique
Cons:
  • So much like the first game
  • you might end up calling it "Borderlands 1-and-a-half.

More Than Just Hardcore XXX Gun Pr0n.

Hark at this, look: I'm a Borderlands addict. Maybe not as much as you are, you gaming freak, but it's still my favourite FPS. A bold statement, I know, but I'll take the original Borderlands over Half Life or Stalker any day of the week.
Pros:
  • Excellent sequel
  • Massively pretty
  • Guns are fun
Cons:
  • Odd jumping mechanics

Borderlands 2

The original Borderlands was a game that shone with potential but in reality turned out to be more brown and boring than its in-game environments. Guilty on so many levels of simply underachieving for rather easily fixed reasons, has Borderlands 2 done the work and made for an impressive come back?
Pros:
  • Great gameplay
  • interesting story
  • colourful and varied game world
Cons:
  • A tad buggy
  • multiplayer could be more diverse
