BlackBerry Torch 9860
The BlackBerry Torch 9860 is a BlackBerry, but it doesn't have a physical keyboard. It's a BlackBerry for the iPhone and Android generation, but we think the BlackBerry faithful will prefer the real thing .
Pros:
- Well built
- great screen
- Excellent Web browsing and interface
Cons:
- Touchscreen typing is imperfect
- Hidden volume buttons

The left side of the device has the micro USB connector while the top has a lock switch which is hard enough to not accidentally unlock the device. On the right side you have a 3.5mm audio jack, volume rockers with a mute switch in the middle and a convenience key towards the bottom.

BlackBerry Torch 9860 review
It's taken a ridiculously long time to come, but this is it. This is the one. After the clickable screen of the BlackBerry Storm 2 and the touchscreen-with-slide-out-keyboard shenanigans of the original BlackBerry Torch , RIM has finally released a proper touchscreen smartphone.

Editor's Review of the Torch 9860
With a large touchscreen and a powerful processor, the BlackBerry Torch 9860 could prove the ultimate Android alternative

BlackBerry Torch 9860
If you used either BlackBerry Storm, we suggest that you wipe your memory before clapping eyes on the Torch 9860, as it is a completely different beast. RIM mixes a number of successful concepts into this handset to give its CrackBerry fanbase a touchscreen worthy of a table in a bar or a boardroom.
Pros:
- Sleek
- unique design
- Excellent touchscreen display
- BlackBerry 7 OS is fast
- easy to use
- Good web browser
Cons:
- No HDMI port
- No wireless media streaming
- App World won't satisfy gamers
- High latency with BIS data traffic

BlackBerry Torch 9860
The first (and second) BlackBerry touchscreen handsets weren't exactly homerun efforts for Research In Motion (RIM) - despite earning a reasonably favourable review from the team here at CNET Australia .
Pros:
- Sleek, unique design
- Excellent touchscreen display
- BlackBerry 7 OS is fast, easy to use
- Good web browser
Cons:
- No HDMI port
- No wireless media streaming
- App World won't satisfy gamers
- High latency with BIS data traffic

Blackberry Torch 9860
This is not the first attempt by BlackBerry to produce a full touchscreen phone as they had a similar idea with the earlier Storm models. The Torch 9860 is a far superior effort in the touchscreen arena than the Storm series however and benefits from all of the excellent web browsing, multimedia and...

RIM BlackBerry Torch 9860 smartphone
The BlackBerry Torch 9860 is a touchscreen-only smartphone like the iPhone or any generic Android. Given that the BlackBerry calling card has always been excellent physical keyboards (and excellent mail) we’re a bit confused as to the Torch’s purpose. The phone itself is built to a high standard and is powerful, but its imperfect touchscreen keyboard makes the Torch inferior to its tactile counterparts. The BlackBerry Torch 9860 is a BlackBerry, but it doesn’t have a physical keyboard. It’s a BlackBerry for the iPhone and Android generation, but we think the BlackBerry faithful will prefer the real thing. The Torch’s best chance is with casual BlackBerry users that like the interface and ecosystem, but aren’t going to spend all day on email or BlackBerry Messenger.
Pros:
- Well built, great screen
- Excellent Web browsing and interface
Cons:
- Touchscreen typing is imperfect
- Hidden volume buttons

BlackBerry Torch 9860 Review by 3G.co.uk
Who would have thought it – a BlackBerry device made for multimedia, and that has no QWERTY keyboard? Surely not. But wait, there's more – it also has a ‘Liquid Graphics' display. What is going on?
Cons:
- Inaccurate onscreen keyboard
- touch-display and keys don't work so well together
- few entertainment apps

Keyless, not clueless
No QWERTY keyboard, no SurePress clickable screen gimmickry, the BlackBerry Torch 9860 is taking the plunge. Not the first time that RIM are venturing into touchscreen but they're past the point of no return with this one.
