The Torch has both hardware keyboard and touchscreen, but it's the OS revamp that really catches the eye. Microsoft isn't the only company revamping its smartphone operating system this month.

BlackBerry Torch 9800 Review

At Rs. 35,000, the Torch 9800 is quite expensive. It has a touchscreen and a full keypad and a host of other goodies that make it a very feature rich offering. However, some issues with build quality and the astronomical price make us hesitate before recommending it.
Pros:
  • Good QWERTY and onscreen keypad
  • Very good voice clarity and network performance
  • Feature loaded
Cons:
  • Expensive
  • not exactly value for money
  • Shoddy build is noticeable in some places
  • Heavy

Pretty Phone and Pretty Good Phone

This is my first blackberry after coming off the G1 from TMobile and I love it. The phone is physically prettier than either the G1 or the G2. The touchscreen is responsive, but not overly so. The touchpad is also better than the trackball on the G1.
Pros:
  • Attractive Design
  • Great Battery Life
  • QWERTY Keypad
Cons:
  • Small Buttons

The road to touch screen perfection has been a long one for RIM. With two lackluster products such as the Storm and Storm2 in its lineup, it was a grim moment for its touch screen offerings. Learning some lessons from its earlier mishaps, the BlackBerry Torch is definitely a turning point.
Pros:
  • Vast improvement over earlier BlackBerry Storm and Storm2
  • Best of both worlds with touch screen and QWERTY keyboard
  • Intuitive BlackBerry 6 OS
Cons:
  • Lagging behind in hardware specifications
  • Average battery life despite more manageable processor
  • Imaging quality appears overly warm
