RIM struggled earlier to make a good start to the touchscreen market with the BlackBerry Storm and Storm 2. Both had an awful clicky screen that was nowhere near as responsive as a capacitive screen and typing was a chore, although this did improve with the Storm 2.

I am a hardcore blackberry user, I have had blackberries since the bold 9000 which was a Cadillac! I purchased the white torch before releasing in UK so I was ecstatic. This blackberry was the biggest disappointment. Problems - Weak battery life. - Very heavy - bulky for no reason.

"Lighten up with the Blackberry Torch 9800"

I absolutely love this phone. The blackberry torch is probably the best blackberry out there. Not only does it have the easy to use qwerty keyboard, but it also has a great touchscreen too! it slides up, unlike other blackberrys and comes in black, white and red.
Pros:
  • word documents
  • sleek
  • touch screen
  • qwerty keyboard
Cons:
  • battery life

BlackBerry Torch 9800

The BlackBerry Torch is undeniably the best BlackBerry yet. RIM has managed to keep it familiar, yet fresh, to paraphrase their CEO. That should be good enough to hold onto existing BlackBerry users (and there are a lot of you), but we doubt they'll steal many iPhone and Android customers.
Pros:
  • Capactivite touch screen
  • great hardware QWERTY keyboard
  • OS 6.0
Cons:
  • In the specs war
  • the Torch isn't at the top

BlackBerry Torch review: UK edition

Fixes many faults without bringing much new to the table - but we're excited about BlackBerry 6 updates on other phones
Pros:
  • The web browser works! Pinch to zoom! BlackBerry keyboard
Cons:
  • BlackBerry OS relics remain
  • screen grainier than a harvest festival
