stay connected

I upgraded my phone contract last year to get a HTC wildfire phone but I wasn't with the phone for too long as it was stolen a few months later whilst I was sitting my end of year exams. I had to go back to using one of my old phones and I wasn't too pleased about it.

Overpriced!!

I found this slider to be too overpriced for the kind of specifications it was coming with. There were no extraordinary features as such that it has to be so overpriced. The apps are nice and by looks wise too it is really cool.

The best BB ever

It is great - has a full size touch screen and also a slid-under keyboard. Too bad none of the newer models are built like this.

The BlackBerry Torch is an attention-grabbing smartphone, and it's one that clearly proves a BlackBerry can be more than just a staid business-friendly phone. If you're loyal to BlackBerry phones and are looking for an upgraded device, the Torch is well worth your time.

did its job of calls and texts but the battery that was sent with it did not last long and started shutting down easily. Now eve

It was OK in the first place, did its job of calls and texts but the battery that was sent with it did not last long and started shutting down easily. Now even by changing the battery, it does not even turn on anymore. It lasted a year tops.

BlackBerry Torch 9800 review: BlackBerry Torch 9800

Though performance could be better and it could stand for some hardware upgrades, the RIM BlackBerry Torch 9800 and BlackBerry OS 6 offer much-needed improvements to stay in step with the competition, and keep BlackBerry enthusiasts happy.
Pros:
  • The RIM BlackBerry Torch combines both a touch screen and full QWERTY keyboard
  • BlackBerry OS 6 brings such improvements as a better user interface, universal search, and an improved browser and multimedia experience.
Cons:
  • The smartphone can be sluggish
  • The Torch has a lower-resolution screen
  • Applications can be saved only to the phone's main memory
  • Camera shoots only VGA video.

RIM BlackBerry Torch 9800

BlackBerry manufacturer RIM has been struggling to keep up with the main innovators at the head of the smart phone pack. So far, it's been keeping pace rather than edging in front.

BlackBerry Torch 9800 touchscreen QWERTY slider review

The BlackBerry Torch 9800 offers a few firsts for RIM and AT&T. The Torch is RIM's first attempt at a BlackBerry that sports both a full QWERTY keyboard and a touchscreen. It's also the first commercially available BlackBerry that runs the new BlackBerry 6 operating system, which offers a host of...
Pros:
  • First class design
  • excellent keyboard
  • good call quality
  • solid camera
  • new operating system
Cons:
  • Only a day of battery life
  • bulky
  • stale application selection
  • sluggish web browser

RIM BlackBerry Torch 9800 (preview)

The BlackBerry Torch 9800 might be the best BlackBerry ever, but we think at its core it is generally the same as most other BlackBerrys. It possesses an excellent keyboard and great e-mail capabilities, but boasts nothing really new or innovative. The Torch offers little incentive to switch from the iPhone or an Android smartphone, but BlackBerry users will probably find it a compelling upgrade. When you have a product that has been successful for several years, but has fallen somewhat behind the times, it can be difficult to figure out what to change and what to leave alone.
Pros:
  • Good keyboard, excellent e-mail, responsive touchscreen, decent build quality, revamped OS, universal search, improved Web browser
Cons:
  • Physical design could use an overhaul, large and top-heavy, lack of customisation of app "drawers", UI lacks consistency, lower resolution display than competitors
