On first impressions, the BlackBerry DTEK50 is unassuming, unexciting and decidedly middle of the road.

BlackBerry DTEK50 review
When the rumors BlackBerry was going to release a mid-range Android device started to appear, I wasn't really sure what to expect as an end result. As it turns out, the DTEK50 is a nice looking device that is pretty much up for anything you throw at it and while it doesn't include all the latest and...

BlackBerry DTEK50 Review
BlackBerry is still in the game and it's using Android to get them back on its feet. If the Priv is way too much for you to enjoy a BlackBerry phone, then the DTEK50 we have here wants to address that concern.
Pros:
- Sturdy build
- Good display
- Great overall performance
- An affordable BlackBerry device
Cons:
- A bit light for our liking
- Additional BlackBerry features are not skin deep
- Lacks a fingerprint scanner
- Average battery life

Why did I decide to buy the BlackBerry DTEK50? I already had a perfectly functioning phone and there were cheaper Android phones out there. I guess my curiosity was piqued when I read about the security features and wanted to see what the fuss was about.

As expected for many years now, BlackBerry has announced that it will no longer build smartphones itself . Phones with BlackBerry's branding will be designed, manufactured and marketed by partners while the company itself focuses on software.

Pros:
- Good display
- Good build quality and lightweight design
- Software features and timely security updates
- Good audio output
Cons:
- Priced on the higher side
- Average battery life
- Single SIM
- No fingerprint sensor
